Checking out Google on one of our IDN's, and it seems to be listing them - http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...%A9e.com&meta=.
Even though it is an old listing, it still listed the IDN www.vendée.com with the un-coverted domain as the link - http://www.xn--vende-esa.com.
Thoughts on this? Great news for the development of the IDN?

Seems that either Google or the IE Plugin are using the JavaScript 'Window Status'. Look at the source code Dave.Originally Posted by dwrixon

No if right click on the URL in the listing the source code is:Originally Posted by rawkinrich

This would seem that the local characters are actually listed, which means they can be indexed.
If the plug-in was converting it would show the punycode.

Ah I see. So either way it is great news for IDN's, don't you think?Originally Posted by dwrixon

The problem is that Google sometimes treat internation letters as English letter. For example if you search for "vidéo", you get many results of "video".
I've noticed that too. As long as Google start to index IDN's, it's a good start and can only get better.Originally Posted by madcamel

Yes, that's a real problem if you limit on the concept of IDN is putting accents on vowels. I don't generally invest in those. The problem does not arise with Hirigana, Kanji, Arabic or Davengari.Originally Posted by madcamel
