If anyone has any ideas how I can increase search engine rank and traffic for my site, I would greatful for the help. Any opinons welcome, I havent been doing this very long, and I know I have not been going the right directions. Just trying to figure out how to do things the right way.
Thanks
Well, for starters, having huge graphics and very little text on the index page isn't going to help your rankings. Have a look at some competitors' sites and their rankings, then try and incorporate some of the key text phrases that are pertinent to your site which are working for others!
The best way to get a better ranking and traffics is to build a naturally useful site. By this, you dont need to do link exchange. PPL will willingly link to you which eventually boost your popularity
So any related text on the index page is used by the search engines?Originally Posted by aZooZa
Absolutely - and the more "related" it is - the better!
Great - I envy all you guys who know this like second nature.Originally Posted by aZooZa

Does to much text hurt the site, and what about repeating text, does it hurt the site also with the search engines?
Thanks
Repeating, Maybe?
Too much text? I dont think so
The idea is to economize your text by creating tightly themed pages...Originally Posted by haynes8
It's called duplicate text and that is never good.Originally Posted by haynes8
"Splash" pages are almost always a bad idea. Drop your entry page, and make the forum the default page of the site. Then install yourself, or get someone to install for you, the Able2Know phpBB SEO hack, which means that Google will index all your threads and post for the whole site, instead of just the homepage. These two changes alone while make a huge difference. You actually have 46 backlinks, but Google has only indexed your 1st page. With 245 posts in your forum, you should have at least 100 or more pages index in Google.

Looks better, Try to rid of the duplicate links, once is enough![]()
I'll work on that next. At least it looks like the adsense is going to pay off. I've made a couple dollars in the 2 days its been on the site.
file names - name them according to keywords you are targeting. This includes graphic and html files. I always do this and it and seem to get good results. I always optimise for Yahoo/MSN. Get good results in those two and people will be linking to your site and thus boosting you for Google. I never worry about SEO for Google and all that link exchange crap. Time will tell with google. If sites are linking to you, without any link exchange effort, it weights more.
Thats my 2 Cents
Thanks, I'll work on that also.
Next problem. I added my adsense to the overall header of the forum. Now having done that, what do I need to do to make the adsense show relevant ads?
Thanks again
