How Do I Get Listed On Search Engines?

Hi,

I have been trying to get listed but don't know how to go about doing so? Is there any costs involved? Is there any advice you could give me?

Also, will google/any of them list a site which is parked at sedo?

There are many ways to do this:
-You can hire an SEO and get your site listed but that will cost you a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars depending on your site.
-You can put a <meta tag> code and put the keywords your site is targetting at and that will increase your rankings on search engines.
- Do some link building with High PR sites which will improve your site ranking.

And get your site submitted to most of the search engines through the meta tag or there is a software and then you can increase your rankings and build traffic too.

How do I put the meta tags in? One of the names is listed on sedo, would that affect anything in regards to listing on search engines?

You can search for meta code tag , its something like this <meta= "land page">
Might get listed as in parked domains if it will get good traffic but its not a wise decision to get a sedo parking page on google or search engines.

For indexed on Google, you need a link back from some sites.
For indexed on Yahoo, you need to use RSS and submit it in Yahoo.
For other SE such as MSN, just submit it in MSN SE home.

Most of the search engines they have a page to manually add your site to their list of sites to be spidered. This doesn't guarantee you will be spidered. The best thing would be to advertise your link at a few sites with similar content. If you visit the advertising section you can get links for as little as $10/mo. When google or other search engines spider their sites they will follow your link to your site.

matt, first of all I would strongly recommend developing your website with some type of content other than your sedo listing. Sure you COULD get it listed with the sedo listing, but it's not going to do you very much good if your goal is to build a website which ranks for a variety of keyword terms.

Start small, build a website that a human real person visitor would like to use and can easily navigate around, first and foremost. Then, after you have a solid base with no SEO considerations... slowly research and test some changes. Any changes you make when you are just learning should be analyzed thoroughly. Alternately, you could hire some qualified help to optimize your website after you have a solid base with users in mind.
