DNF$: 5,259 Location: chicago | MSN Search vs Google The MSN search engine does a much better and faster job of indexing my web sites.
For example I have a site http://www.catsupplys.com which has been live about 3 months and have submitted it to both google and msn.
If I type 'catsupplys' into search.msn.com I get 2 pages of relevant links directly to my site. The same search in google and my page does not even come up (the .net does).
How can Microsoft do such a good job with MSN while Google fails miserably?

Not sure whats going on at google, you know this isn't how they want it. Perhaps their working on a new algorythm or something. but for now, it's MSN's game. |

For example, I moved my http://www.poochsite.com from parking, and within a pretty short time after it became a "real" site, it was showing up tops at msn with the correct slogan, while google was showing the parked slogan. My http://www.bytessite.com was the same for both search engines in terms of speed, but google did get there eventually, so I'm not complaining! Perhaps it's just when the web crawl happens? Anyone knows how often each of these does the crawl? |

MSN returns more relevant, timely information
| Lee, yes that seems to be the case. I have noticed that Yahoo is also better than Google in this respect.
Foodie, welcome to the forum. Yes Google does seem to be slower to index and some of my sites do show up but considering they have about 70% of the search market I would expect better results.

Dont think you can compare google to msn IMO, google is way more advanced. Although they are going through some major changes.

So, what are these google changes?
BTW, I have both a google and yahoo beta ad. account. Been impressed with the yahoo beta. They actually called me to ask for my feedback. I told them I'm just small fish, but the person wanted to know my thoughts anyway. And then they emailed to follow up! |

MSN is much easier to get away with black hat seo and bull$$$$ sites.
Yahoo Index is playing more and more a part on the google index.
Get good with SEO and you will be fine. Try and cut corners and you won't get anywhere!

Like mentioned above I hope that they are working on some new type of system to help us non-blackhat seo'ers get listed much easier.

I'm #1 in MSN for "college baseball recruiting" and "baseball recruiting" and no where to be found on Google.. My site has been up for around 3 months... Google takes forever

When in doubt keep trying to get higher in the SERPS, if "YOU" give up then you are only to blame. |

WE, as domainers and developers, rule the internet. Google would be shit without US. We were around before google, and will be after google. |
