PR Ranking? Is it worth Buying domains that rank high?

I have several domain names with very high PR numbers on google...if I forward these domain names to a website, will it help or hurt the website?

Will it cause the PR ranking to go down on the domain name with the high PR that is forwarded?

Does it matter if it is masked forwarding or not?

Is it any good or an advantage of buying domains with high PR rankings?

Just curious if anyone knows the answers to these questions...

Spill your knowledge if you got it!!!

General PR questions usually the best that can be given is general answers...It's vary hard to assess since you don't give any specifics, but I'll give a stab at it. Feel free to PM me if you want some specific advise and don't want to disclose your URLs publically.

It depends... usually it won't hurt the PR.

    In time... probably.

Not as far as PR goes.

Yes and no. Depends what your goal is... If you are trying to build a new site and want it to rank well immediately, then yes a high PR will help; but at the same time you have to be very carefull depending on what your goals are.

Does it do any good to register expiring domain names with high PR ranking?

    Are they worth anything?

Do they keep their PR Ranking after they are registered with a new person?
thanks for the first post answering questions...thought I would find out the above as well.

Re: PR Ranking? Is it worth Buying domains that rank high?

The important thing is if they keep the links or not. If they keep the backlinks the PR will be back on a month or two. I have experienced this with several sites.
I have also experienced buying a site with some PR, but no backlinks, then, in the next update the PR is gone.
So, the key is the permanence of the back links.

Technically, expired domains are not supposed to keep the PR; or at least all of it. Google has commented on this before and only said negative things. But, I still think they are not really putting through as negative results on expired domains as they would like you to think. There is still some value in expired domains with PR... but once they expire they are certainly worth less; IMO.

If you are buying a site for the purpose of PR, get a site that hasn't expired... ever. Otherwise you are somewhat gambling with your website.

There are some instances where this isn't the case, again general PR questions like this are extremely hard to give a straight answer to. If I had a real world example it would be much more straight-forward.

If a domain is registered with a new person, to my knowledge that doesn't currently have any negative results; although an IP change COULD have negative results.

I have a real world example and I'll disclose the link :

    http://www.clasificados.ws

It was regged not even recently expired, but actually several months expired.
The site had PR0 the first time I put it online, but it got a PR3 1 or 2 months later.

Re: PR Ranking? Is it worth Buying domains that rank high?

Yep, that's a clean example of Google seeing an expired domain as a "new" domain/site.

They found the site through the new links that you have (either through sedo) or other links and assigned it a PR3 based on the new webpage that is displayed (sedo page or whatever else you had before.)

It's hard to tell how solid of a PR3 it is based on the fact that all this happened inbetween Google backlink updates. Once it updates and shows some link results for the site, you could possibly put up a website and benefit from the PR3 rankings. If you do see decent link results when it updates and you put a website on the domain, then you basically saved months (avoided sandbox) of your time. But, since it is now a "new domain/site" then it's hard to predict what Google will do as far as sandboxing your future website.

what if you use a 302 redirect??? I have heard that works to keep PR for redirected domains. Is that true?

You have to be cautious when redirecting or forwarding domains with Google. It can also be the case that the PR is being sucked from another site using a 302 redirect. As a general rule, Google does not like redirects.

Hi, I am looking for around 10 domains with PR ranging from 4-6. Can you suggest the best way to look for them. I have been trying different websites but apart from a few ads here and there, it is difficult to find them.

Can you tell me any source where I can buy domains based on PR ? Or if someone can search it for a fee.

Welcome rohitgoel. You might want to upgrade your membership and thus get access to the sales forums where these domains are regularly traded.
