Arrow Paying For Advertising....What Do You Do?

Ok, as you may see in my link I have my domain portfolio out and ready to deal with domainers and end users alike. Here is my question....

So far I spent total on banner advertising (728x90, 468x60, 125x125 sizes) about $150 in the past 2 weeks. The sites are mostly blogs dealing with domains, web development, forums etc. Where else should I spend my advertising dollars?

Im trying to market outside of domainers and target more developers. But when they have my ad on their site is this beign counted as a backlink?

Also what are your thoughts on buying traffic, links etc. Is it worth it if not for actual people who will buy but for PR and movement in the search engines?

Also when you pay for bookmarks ie: "60 bookmarks for $5" should you buy from more then 1 type of seller OR once they bookmarked you do you stop? How many is to many or you can never have enough?

What would you do OR do now that I can take a look at for 2009

Thanx to all who reply!

Don't spend a penny on advertising your domains!

Look for end users!

End Users will not be looking at ads to buy domains! in the last 6 months i had 5 profitable transactions with end users,

example, army dog tag - thats what i searched on google and found lots of sites and emailed them one by one and offered them the .com - few days later SOLD the domain

domainers already know were to find domains! why spend money promoting it!

if your domain is Babashaanti and their is 0-5000 search results, then you really don't have much to work with!

dont spend money on buying traffic or backlinks! Waste of money, unless you are starting up a forum , social network, etc , news!

i have done that and will re start in in 2009. My main focus was marketing the site to those taking on or looking to start new web projects and want a good domain to start with.

Would say bookmark maybe 100 or so websites a week. It looks more natural if it's incremental with varying anchor text

HI

Make one site that lists all your names... and then pay people to bookmark your site for $5 per 100 bookmarks is ok.. don't forget about social marketing.... you can get the same $5 for 100 listings...

also add google adsense to your site the money you make you can spend on Yahoo search....

Get some articles written... on domains and submit them to article directories.

Also submit your site to link directories..

also you can buy sig links in forums that works well to..

plus make sure your site is optimized for the Serps.

Thx
Tom

Your ad won't be consider a backlink in the long run if run advertising.

I would suggest that you participate in different forums putting a link to your site in your signature. Participation will give you some cred and users may visit your site, the link will serve as a backlink from different forums. I would suggest that you also submit your link to directories to yield a better backlink return.

Here is a traditional method of advertising that I have been thinking about doing. Its called Sponsor a Highway. The link below is the program is for my home state of Maryland but they have them in other states as well.

http://www.marylandroads.com/Improvi..._a_highway.asp

Second link is for the general program.

http://www.adoptahighway.com/

I have talked to many businesses who have used the program in Maryland to great success. The cost depends on your area though so check it out it might work for you.
