Country: | SEO & PPC Pubcon in Las Vegas Nov 15 I just booked my room at the Riviera ($50/night) and air ($39/each way) on Southwest... great deals right now!
Anyone else going? I posted it here because the bulk of the conferences are SEO and PPC related. I went last year, it was well organized and well worth it. Got to meet the Google.com guys, Monte from Moniker.com, Pud from F--kedcompany.com, etc etc.

luc l. | The signup is at Pubcon.com, price is $375 before end of day Sept 2, not sure after that. It was $450 last year. About 1,500 attendees (my guess), 3 'tracks' of sessions.

Why always on weekdays? Anyone would like to sponsor an event that is on Friday, Sat and Sun. Good for business and pleasure type of travel..

It's much harder to book flights and rooms, and the prices are higher on weekends. Las Vegas gets a lot of weekend tourists. It's also easier to book nightclubs, shows and other events for big groups during the week. You can always stay through the weekend and become a trourist yourself

Country: | Re: Pubcon in Las Vegas Nov 15 3 conventions have been moved from New Orleans to Vegas, so it would be wise to BOOK NOW if you're doing this...
By the way, this is their 10th convention -- and there it's about 8 TIMES the size of a certain other convention held in Florida claiming to be the "premier" event. No massive ego, no 'invitations' required, just register, show up, and do business with 1,500 to 2,000 others in the business.

I'm not sure what you're asking... the 3 other conventions were moved to Las Vegas because New Orleans is currently under water. I'm only mentioning it here because it means there will be fewer vacancies for last minute bookings.

The first few are from the big open bar/catered party at Caesar's Palace nightclub PURE sponsored by Yahoo Publisher Network.
Next section is seminars, including one by Monte Cahn (Moniker.com), CrankyOldMan, and John Berryhill (Domain attorney).
The guy the blue golf shirt is Matt Cutts, a very early Google employee and the only one who will discuss Google strategy. The guy sitting on the floor is Philip Kaplan, aka Pud from F--kedCompany.com.
Then on to the next party an Nine Fine Irishmen Pub in New York New York, where Webmasterword footed the huge beer food bartab.
All around awesome event. http://daleporter.com/cabo/2005_11_Pubcon/

Country: | Re: Pubcon in Las Vegas Nov 15 It's kinda hard to reduce a 3 day conference to a post, but basically there are people getting EXTREMELY rich doing SEO consulting and converting top SE positions to sales. I'm talking about $10 million+ and more.
Matt Cuts (one of the first Google employees and SE engineer) did most of the on-topic talking. In short, they're getting better and better at detecting spam, duplicate content, and the "dirty tricks" that used to work. That really is the bottom line. They've got the money, hardware, staff, and computing power to unravel any 'schemes' you can throw at them to unfairly boost your ratings.
The show was basicly about networking, with 1,500 - 2,000 serious business people there (as opposed to the paltry 250-300 at the "traffic" meetings).
I've been promised a call from the head guy at Yahoo Publisher Network to explain why I received no response to my application to join the network. He said he was aware of the invitation selling going on here and it will be stopped.
