    The sandbox?

I have heard so many different meanings

Can anyone tell me the TRUE meaning of

A domain is almost out of the sandbox.

    Thanx

    Re: The sandbox?

The sandbox is a feature of Google search engine. New sites that get added and indexed, then build inbound links, will not see the benefit of these inbound links until they are out of the sandbox. It is a period that can last many months - when you get out of it, you will know, as your site will improve dramatically in search engine results pages.

    Re: The sandbox?

I have heard the theory, but I'm still not convinced...

For example, I registered a domain, built a site, and linked to it from a PR5 page. 2 or 3 weeks later Google updated it's PR, and my new site got a PR3 on the strength of the one inbound PR5 link alone. No sign of a sandbox...

Another site of mine is also only 2 or 3 weeks old, and has no PR because it was launched after the last Google update, but is already the no.1 search result in Google for it's particular keywords. Again, no sign of a sandbox...

I know that sandbox concept is widely accepted, but I'm just not seeing it myself...

Are these domains that NEVER pointed anywhere?

    Re: The sandbox?

The sandbox is a theory based on experiences of certain webmasters, some cases are documented, some cases are believe it or not issues.

Another theory is that these webmasters were doing something to cause them a penalty, such as unnatural linking.

Another theory is that the sandbox doesn't exist, currently.

I'm not saying it doesn't/never existed in some fashion, but the theory list goes on.

The best advice I can give is to be very careful and not do anything that Google might think is 'out of the ordinary' with a brand new domain, which of course is also open to interpretation...

In the first instance, yes, it was a new registration. The second example was a dropped expired domain, but it had no links in Google when I bought it, and 3 weeks later it was no.1.
