    Question SEO for domains

Anyone here done SEO for domains? I was once asked by someone with a large portfolio do SEO their DNs, but they never got around to hiring me. Anyways, I was thinking you could cross-link them, get some publicity to earn free backlinks, buy a few links, and maybe run a contest. Good/bad ideas? How would you SEO undeveloped domains?

Well it's a rather complex question you're asking, and it's not easy to answer. Developing a brand new domain seo wise can be done in a lot of different ways. Whenever I develop a domain it helps a lot knowing people, that can link you up because they know you're good for it.

But for someone starting out fresh, a good idea (and an easy way to gain a few relevant backlinks) is submitting your domain to a few free directories in appropriate categories. I guess that could be step 1

    Re: SEO for domains

I looked at directory submissions, but I was thinking that the parking pages would be rejected, making it all a big waste of time, no?
Also, how do you define them knowing you're "good for it"? Does that mean they expect you to return the favour from your own sites? That you'll pay them? That you won't turn it into a warez site that reflects badly on them?

    Re: SEO for domains

Oh now I know what you mean. You want to promote a parking page? That is a bad idea, as google knows it's parked. That can easily be taken care of tho, all you need is a single landing page on your domain. Just some text. Of course more pages is better than 1, but 1 page is better than a parking page - for sure.

Being "good for it" means i can either return the favor later on from another site, make the new site a good one and return the favor from there, or what you suggested, "not turning it into a warez site that reflects badly on them". Can be several things, really

    Re: SEO for domains

Take for example the site in my sig. Right now it only serves as a landing page, but it is doing just fine, and the best part is google knows about it. Meaning, when I launch the actual site, it'll be easier to get pages indexed and ranked, because it already has somewhat of a weight.
