    Search Engine Statistics Summary

Not sure whether to put this in the newbie section or not, since its probably a newbie question :-D

Im just starting out, and im a little confused as too what the various differant stats i see fellow domain traders throwing around actually mean.

Id like to list a few stats and hopefully you guys could clarify what they mean for a new trader on a deep learning curve

Yahoo Directory - site is listed in the Yahoo directory (costs like $300 i think?)
DMOZ - free directory tool similiar to Yahoo

Alexa Traffic Rank - Measures site rank based on visitors to the site with Alexa toolbar (easy to manipulate i hear?)

Google Link Popularity - Number of google links to the site
Altavista Link Popularity - as above for Altavista
Hotbot Link Popularity - as above for Hotbot

Overture Domain Pop - measures searches on overture? Not really sure about this one
Overture NO TLD Domain Pop - same as above but disregards the extension?

Google PR - Pagerank. Does that mean that say if a site had its main index file (frontpage) on the third page of a google search listing for a keyword it would have a PR3? Say if seochat.com achieved a third page listing for search term "seo"?

I guess those are the main ones. Any clarification is really really appreciated and are there any other stats i should keep in mind when purchasing expired sites with traffic for example?

Well you got the bare bone basics down. Don't jump the gun off the bat with useing big services such as Yahoo Express submit and adwords.. Seek info on each one by it self.. Now that you got all of these questions out .. Post one at a time .. - = D Its not going to happen over night but if you rush this .. You'll pay in the long run

Ya i think im gradually getting the hang of it. The two key points for me to understand atm is:

    1) What stats should i value most highly over others when evaluating a domain
    2) How do increase my click rate on parked domains. I need to learn about keywords. For instance i got irclab.com, i have irc chat cam as my keywords on sedo. It gets about 20 hits a day but only 3.5% rate so far which is bad. Clearly i need to get to grips with would could possibly drive someone to click on a link, why would they do it, what would they be searching for that relates to irc. Off course your limited by the pool of advertisers using google at the time.

Thats my big challenge in the short-medium term, understanding keywords in a much more thorough fashion, seeing what works and what doesnt.
