Had Sedo optimize the keywords associated with my parked domains, and now my daily revenue is way down. Should have just left them as they were. Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,

It used to happen too frequently. I bolted for Fab. Rev's up quite a bit.Originally Posted by domaindirk

Contacted Sedo and had them change the "portal site" keyword attached to the domains in question, to more specific keywords, and the revenue started returning to normal. They also stated that it's members will soon have the option to control their own keywords.
Thanks,

This has little to do with your issue but I thought I'd share it. Just got this from sedo:
Hello from Sedo! As most of you know Sedo's parking servers
were partially down for 15 hours over the weekend (Friday Night - Saturday).
This was due to an unexpected error, after weekly maintenance on Friday,
that caused significant problems with the tracking of the views and clicks
on your domains. We apologize most sincerely for this mistake and promise
to do our upmost to avoid such mistakes in the future. A 24 hour monitoring
system will be implemented in the next few days that insures such problems
are caught and dealt with immediately.
In the interim we have devised a compensation plan to ensure that none
of our users are penalized for this mistake. We have duplicated all of the
views and clicks that occurred on Thursday again on Saturday. Thus, we have
counted your earnings for this past Thursday twice to ensure that all are
compensated for the missing Saturday traffic. This amount has automatically
been credited to your account and requires no action on your part.
Again we apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused you and
thank you for your patience in dealing with us. Should you have any questions
or comments please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Daniel H. Law

Thanks for the info Daniel. Sedo is a class act for support. Their revenue is getting better by the day too.
Yes, you have to keep a close eye on Sedo's optimization. Frequently they will take a good performing keyword and change it to a very poor performing keyword or an irrelevant keyword. I suppose that over time they would change it back to the better performing keyword since optimization takes time but still it causes a lot of anxiety to see your revenue drop substantially while they are messing around with your keywords. Many times you can do better if you know what type of traffic your domain is getting and then check the Overture bids for different keywords associated with that traffic. Then just email Sedo and they will change the keyword for you. Can't wait for them to start allowing users to pick their own keywords.
I don't know If its directly related to optimization or not, but the PPC rev (per click) keeps dropping.
I had a site that I placed about a month ago. Gets nice steady traffic.
first week, i was getting 22 cents (Euro) per click! then it went to 17, 14, stabilized at about 10, and as of yesterday it is 9.
what's with the decreasing per click pay?
Is this related to optimization in that by changing keywords, the quality of the cliks are less?

Probably your visitors are clicking different ads.Originally Posted by seeker
Eg. For the 1st few clicks, they might click on good payrate ad, so your average rev/click is high, then some of your visitors click those ad that offer low payrate, after it avg out, the rev/click drops..
So it depends on the advertiser's rate and which ad your visitor click.
Seedo is using google for ads. Google just announced some changes at the start of this month in how they charge for clicks, it will now be partially based on the content of the site it is served from. Since parked domains have little to no real content, the price per click will most likely fall on them.Originally Posted by seeker
mmmm, that's interesting.Originally Posted by theparrot
I didn't know that.
That's a shame though, as I was making more revenue in general, and its steadily dropping...

even with all the changes that has affected sedo, it is still the best! i have a few hundred domain names parked and the good ol' portal keyword/category still does just fine... for me at least.
the portal keyword is what's killing some of my domains.
They get a LOT of trafffic, and a click rate of like 4%.
Wile on other domains with optimized keywords, I have a site with serious daily traffic with a click through rate of around 44-45%
Seek... And you shall Find
i guess overall it all depends on your domain names and/or the quality of your traffic
