Varying keyword position

Over the past few weeks my website has been jumping between position for a certain keyword, I checked at 09:00 and it was at #4 and then at 09:05 and it was at #9, so I checked again a few minutes later and it went from #9-#13-#4-#17-#8-#44 all within 2 hours.

The keyword is North East England and my site is northeastengland.org, I just cannot understand why its jumping so much as the keyword isnt that sought after.

I have the same situation, a 2-keyword domain that is not sought after that much.
Last week landend on the first page of google out of nothing. After that in a couple of hours some fluctuations between #1 to #5.
One thing i shouldn't have done is to click on it so often. Google record this as 'the user didnt find anything interesting on this page' and takes this into account.

the google index updates many times per day...... you just have to let time do it's thing.

if you are still having problems a few month's into a project, that means that your site is really missing something.... most likely relevant text links or enough content.

It depends on which datacenter you hit.. so it's kind of random
