    vbSEO question...

Is it really worth $150 for vbSEO or is it overrated? I know most forums use it. But digitalpoint doesn't use it and look at them.

DnForum uses it and look how often they come up in search results.

IMHO - it all depends on how you want to market your forum. If you think your forum can bring in an extra $150/yr or whatever vbSEO costs per year then I would invest in it. Otherwise, I wouldn't.

I have used vbSEO on one of my forums after procrastinating about it for a long time becuase I hate worrying about frequent upgrades and versions... Way back when it got popular to re-write urls I think the static url's really made a difference because Google thought they were true HTML pages, but now adays, Google is well aware of the re-write and the reasons for it.....

VBSEO is a great product but I did not see a title wave of new traffic because of it. I added it to an old domain which was always a forum and the traffic did not seem to increase because of it... I watched pretty closely to see if it would make a big difference and it did not seem to. This is my experience with it....

What I like most about it is its archive structure and how it changes it into a site map rather then a possible duplicate content trap.. For me, that is one of the key reasons I used it becuase I have always hated that default vb archive....

Google posted a blog entry now telling webmasters not to use rewrite rules for dynamic URLs, at least in most cases.

Google say, in bold, “avoid reformatting a dynamic URL to make it look static.” But Google also admitted that “static URLs might have a slight advantage in terms of clickthrough rates.” However, Google said “dynamic URLs should be favored over hiding parameters to make them look static.”

I have about 4 forums and one of them is rewritten...
I think the most important part of a forum is the people, the mods, the admins, and the community...
If you have a good membership, the forum will thrive with or without static urls

Other big forums like digitalpoint, v7n use vbseo. I think it is worth spending as they build in the ping feature which you can post each thread to technorati etc...

I got 3 forums with vbseo.

As far as I understand, they do the same exact thing that VBulletin does itself -- they charge a one time fee for the license which also includes one year's upgrades. So by paying the $150 licensing fee, you are entitled to a lifetime VBSeo license for your domain, but if you want to upgrade to a newer version of the software after a year has passed since you bought your license, you have to pay the $35/yearly fee.. which entitles you to another full year of upgrades/downloads.
Business opportunities are just as abundant as ever. You just have to pour your heart into it.

I just purchased it a few weeks back for a women's health site that my wife owns. I have noticed an increase in traffic and new user registrations thus far and we are pleased with it for the first month.
