Wants to promote forum to a specific targeted group - DNForum - Domain Sales, Domain Forum, Domain Appraisals, Domain Registrars

Hey everyone,

I currently own SportsHangout.com, but it isn't up as of right now.

I would like to open up this forum targeted to New Jersey High School athletes so they can participate in talking about top-notch NJ high school sports athletes all over the state or just talk about teams in general.

To get an idea of what I'm talking about, please look at the following link: http://www.nj.com/forums/hsbaseball/

Of course, this would look like an Invision or phpBB forum, not the setup that www.nj.com has.

Now, how would I promote this type of site to New Jersey high school athletes? Where do I advertise? Who do I email? How do I get the word out to the public?

I could actually see this on a commercial.. Especially since its local. Down here we have ran commercials locally to promote things around here. Depending on the channels, times, and number of times you run the commercials you could have a big response/small response.

I would suggest flyers and things of that sort.

Thanks Southern, I appreciate the ideas... I never actually thought of flyers and things like that.

Commercials would cost a fortune though, and I don't have much money to spend.

And the only problem with the flyers, how would I get them sent around NJ??

Usually the cost of TV Ads are alot cheaper during the night time.

Down here a tv ads on Comedy Central at about Midnight and a little past that are REAL CHEAP.. Only a couple of dollars per 30 Sec commercial slot.

But it all depends on the cable provider and etc. Try looking into it.

You could also sponsor a local event :-D , That'll help out alot.

and for the flyers, go to stores who sell sporting goods and things like that and ask them can you leave a couple of flyers for people to be able to pick them up.

LoL about leaving the flyers at sporting goods stores... It just so happens that I work in Modells Sporting Goods... people like that come in all the time and give us flyers hoping that we will hand them out as "paper stuffers." But, we wind up throwing them out right when the person walks out the door...
