Ways to restore PR & SERP standings after buying domain?

Newbie-type question from an old domain flipper:

I recently bought a .com that was PR4 (valid, I checked) and was the 3rd result on Google for its term (out of more than 700,000, behind only two Wikipedia pages).

Now that I have pointed it to a new page (a simple non-parked site), that domain's PR is listed as invalid, and it no longer appears on the first page of Google.

Is there any simple way to restore the PR and/or Google ranking? (For instance, would pointing the domain to the previous owner's site help?)

    Thanks.

Sometimes valid PR can still be spoofed. Additionally, Google might have placed your domain in the "sand box" after the ownership change. When a domain goes into the sand box, you just have to wait it out and work on building links. Usually, a domain stays in this state for between 1 and 6 months.

Thanks ... but dang. This domain is coming up for auction soon, and even though it's still got good value, it will look less impressive without the PR and the premium Google rank!

I think adding some relevant content would be a minimum to retain the benefits of existing backlinks. Having PR is nice but honestly I would never buy a domain just based on PR, nor would I advise anyone to do so either.
Check archive.org to see what the domain used to look like.

The best way to do it , just put some page ( copy paste from archive.org ) and wait a week or 2 and PR will be recovered

I've did it for snr.org and msdetta.com , both recovered PR in 4-5 days , after google re-indexed and cached them

I've done this as well on a few sites and it worked well. One thing those is trying to scrape archive.org is not a fun task. Also, I would recommend trickling in some new content as well.

This domain was already sold in an auction ... but I will keep everyone's advice in mind for future domains. Thanks.
