Why is Google only sending traffic to one of my pages?

    I own: www.JapaneseRides.com

Its made up of nearly 50 pages following the same format. Its about 7 months old and is currently getting 50 visits per day, mostly from Google.

The thing is, 90% of this traffic is comming to the Acura Integra page, and even though I have 40-some other pages that have the exact same layout and style, the Integra page is the only one that gets the traffic.

Furthermore, if you search for images from my site: http://images.google.ca/images?q=jap...ff&sa=N&tab=wi

    only Acura cars show up...

Why is Google sending traffic to this page and only this page? The other pages have been indexed...but don't rank anywhere near as high.

    Thanks

Re: Why is Google only sending traffic to one of my pages?

I had a quick look at your site.

I hope you dont mind if I make a couple of suggestions.

    1) I think that you should make a site map, with all your pages available as links on this one page. (Use text links and make them descriptive with your keywords for each page)

    2) For the titles of your other pages, from what I can see from the Google results, you title always start with "JapaneseRides, com" followed by the car, etc info. I would suggest getting rid of the "Japaneserides.com" part of the title, and use the main keywords for these specific pages.

    3) For each individual page, such as (http://www.japaneserides.com/skyline.html), I think it might be a good idea to have a heading for each page, with the main keywords again for the pages, such as NISSAN SKYLINE GTR. But put the heading above the main table, maybe underneath the link you have to return to the homepage.

    4) On the pages where you have the links underneath your logo, you might want to insert a title tag into these links, where by you can place a few keywords for the links. This is also something useful with regards to accessibility, where by anyone using your site with a site reader, can hear some descriptive text about where each link goes to. (EG: <a href="page1.html" title="Information about Blah blah blah"> LINK </a> )

I hope this was not too much. I have been working on many sites over the years and trying best to get them not only high ranking, but also to have the various pages of my sites ranking well and not just the home page. I am sure that with a little trial and error, and by implementing just a few small changes, you should see some improvement.

Good Luck, and keep the faith

Re: Why is Google only sending traffic to one of my pages?

    Hi GT Web,
As a spider, crawling your site, the first link you come to is the "Acura" link. You follow that link and the first link on that page is the "Integra" link. This page has lots of meaty content to index, probably enough for one sweep, so the spider indexes that page, then moves on, probably following the first link on that page, which is the external banner ad.

    That's my guess...

what about the top navbar? shouldn't that be considered the first link(s)?

Re: Why is Google only sending traffic to one of my pages?

It's the top nav bar I'm talking about! The first link in the nav bar is "Acura". The spider would index the first page then follow that link, it would then index the "Acura" page, then the first (new) link is the link to the "Integra" page, (the nav bar links are the same as on the index page, which it has already index, so it won't bother following those links), so it goes to the "Integra" page and indexes that. Which is why your "Integra" page shows up on all the searches.

I'm not saying that I know why it's doing it that way, I'm just saying that it's the most logical explaination why that page was indexed and the others weren't. I'm sure in time Google will find them all...

thanks for the response, but the thing is, all the pages are already indexed in Google...they just dont rank nearly as high as the Integra page

Re: Why is Google only sending traffic to one of my pages?

Well maybe it indexed the integra pages first, then indexed the rest at a later date. I think Google attaches more value to pages that have been online longer, (or that where indexed earlier).

Re: Why is Google only sending traffic to one of my pages?

    GT Web

One other thing that might be worth doing would be to actually have all of your links on the home page, instead of the main links for the car groups, and then other links within those pages.

One thing I have noticed on Google, is that it rates site pages slightly more if a link to them is found on the index page.

I have a site which has tons of pages, and I only put a main link on the home page to the main page for this section, and on that page would be other links. However, after a while, I noticed that these "inner" pages were not ranked as high as others that had a link directly from the home page. I also noticed on my site that the PageRank for pages linked from the index page where higher than the page rank of pages which were not linked directly from the index page.

Hope that made some sense, as it confused me when typing it.

If you have any questions, let me know and I will be happy to help.
