I have a guy that runs a golf league. He is currently using excel, which i uploaded here http://www.angrymofo.com/fran/

basically he would like for each of the player to be able to update their golf scores

what do you mean? to make such "sheet" online? where he can fill it in online and members can check it? or?

not sure but can't you use google documents and give other rights?
