vBulletin 3.0 - falling at the first hurdle!

I am attempting to install VB3 on my server but I am failing very quickly.
I have created the database "forum" (xxxxxx_forum) in CPanel and assigned a user and user password.
However when I go to install the VB scripts I get:-
------------------------------------------------------------------
Parse error: parse error in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/forums/includes/config.php on line 37

Attempting to attach to database

Connect failed: unexpected error from the database.

Error number: 1046

Error description: No Database Selected

Please ensure that the database and server is correctly configured and try again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

CPanel assigns a database named xxxxxx_forum and I have assigned a username xxxxxx_xxxxxx and password xxxxxxxxx
I have edited the config.php file as per instructions to reflect the above but no joy in installing.
Anyone any idea what is going wrong?
I have successfully installed PHPBB before but this is my first attempt at vBulletin.
Anyone any advice?

Re: vBulletin 3.0 - falling at the first hurdle!

When you were editing $dbname = 'forum'; to your own name, make sure you didn't accidentally remove any apostrophes or the semi colon.

It may also be worth checking line 32 for the same detail.
