Question any serious videographers in the crowd?

I am looking at some quality HD video shooting capable of 1920x1080/60i HD resolution.

What caught my eye is the Sony NEX-VG10. It has the interchangeable lens capability. It takes e-mount but also has an adaptor for my a-mount Sony lenses (although they would only work as manual focus. Another cool thing I just found out is that it will take the earlier Konica Hexanon lenses - some of the finest earlier glass out there that can be had for pennies compared to prime lenses of today.

The benefit (other than being a superb HD video camera and 14.2 MP stills) is savings of thousands of dollars in lens upgrades with lenses I already own.

It is not an entry level camera, per se, but not the pro-priced points.

    Sony NEX-VG10

I may be producing some training vids and a few shorts.

Would love to know what serious video bugs out there are using.

I'm using a digital camera that takes great pictures but the gears crunch whenever taking film. I think Doc should be buying two more of those for his less fortunate domainer buds. Or just give me his. Yeah. I like that.

Nothing set yet. Just the upper end to one I was looking at.

Sony and Panasonic are my preferred choices.

The one I mentioned is perhaps best suited to the budding documentarian, which I am not.

It looks like a great product, Doc. Is this a hobby of yours?

Videography? No. Photography? A BIG yes.

I actually miss the days of doing imaging in a dark room.

One item I did purchase is Sony's new a55v...16.2 megapixel and capable of shooting FULL HD 1080

Check out the sample video with the motocross, etc.

This will be my third Sony DSLR.

I know everyone has their favorites in camera brand. For film, I was a Canon guru. For Digital, I love Sony stuff. And the fact that Sony uses all Minolta and Konica products makes it even better. I was able to buy top of the line lenses for practically nothing when Sony digital SLR's came out. Sony bought out Konica/Minolta optics. Everyone was under the impression Minolta camera was going under. Dealers were dumping their product for pennies. I have lenses that were selling New for $1400 plus that I may have paid $100-$200 for. Dealers had no idea that sony was using these minolta mounts. Now those same lenses are back up to $1400 or more.
