Agreed - in fact I'd go one further, and say that it's becoming more common to say "US" and drop the "A" (for America.com).
It's a valuable name, but I don't think it's an 8 figure name - or even half that.
There's too much ambiguety around it - should it be 'America', or 'United States of America', or is that 'North America' or 'South America'?
The same is true about Britain - should it be 'Britain' or 'Great Britain', or maybe 'United Kingdom' etc...
There is a big difference between these examples and Israel.com, France.com etc.
