Thanks for the heads up. Anyone we can knows any tricks to research these ppl please due so. Find all the info you can and post them on the web.
Just Google their e-mail / paypal e-mail when they send payment, ask them questions like what domains they own, Google the domain, whois the domain to match e-mail, etc. Most is common sense. If dealing in a larger size deal with someone who randomly contacts you and offers PayPal, get them to use escrow. Bet you it wouldn't be hard to find a guy willing to pay $900 for "0xq.com" with their stolen account, right?
Provided that the Paypal account he's using is his then the Paypal Dispute Resolution does not cover intangible items. Therefore Paypal should not refund the money.
When you respond to the dispute with tracking informtion input that the item was an "intangible item" in the field requested and put the full informtion in the 'other' box.
Then I suggest everyone who has been scammed club together and email Paypal on behalf of all your accounts and alert them to this individual and request that they take immediate action against this individual.
I hope this helps.
He attempted the same thing on me with one of my LLLL's last night.
Fortunately - it ended with "sedo escrow, or escrow.com".
This guy's been busy.
.
....
When making a payment or accepting a payment.. Always make sure the payment is marked as a service, or intangable good. Telling paypal this may not do much good if the payment was sent as a tangable purchase.
Maybe the solution if you don't want to use an esrow service is at least have the buyer sign and fax back a domain sale form. This way you can present the document to Paypal and win the dispute.
Domaining.com --- It's about making money with domain names.
That is an option but if the amount is smaller, not everyone would take their time to do so, even if they are legit. I really think paypal should change the way they work. Is it that hard to tweak their system? When someone who just joined Paypal a week ago charges back $700 on a guy who has been a member for 5 years and has had over $100, 000 in outgoing and incoming money, why side with the newbie? You usually can't get away with doing chargebacks to places like GoDaddy so why should it be different with people? Right...?
Having lost 700USD on two names, I have asked my registrars GoDaddy and Name.Com to act on this... Will this help? What else should I be doing? Thanks for your support in advance...
