Bido.com opening its doors with low quality domains?

They claim they have been scavenging through thousands of submissions to bring daily top quality auctions....

The sacred list for the week of June 18th...
Discountimages.com
Vacantrooms.com
GolfIowa.com

I think I need my wasted time given back to me.....

RYY.com
GoldAuction.com
SpywareHelp.com
Domaint@lk.com
VacantRoom.com
CerealBox.com

These are actually decent. Remember, auctions start at $1 with no reserve.

I believe the names chosen or " accepted " are merely a reflect of the model in which they have to operate under. It is a system( business model ) that does not lend itself to high risk or somewhat unreasonable resellers. When these things are factored in the result is lesser quality names. Mind you LLL and the acronym market may find it ok to roll the dice at $5k or less under reseller value in order to make more at auction. Add to that the inflated price some newer registered 2 word dot coms get from time to time at auction and it may be the best route for someone with a mediocre portfolio to take.

I'm saying out of thousands of domains they culled thru.... vacantroom.com was the best they could find? Jeez, I wonder what they have scheduled for July ... ;-)

Again its not about the best names they could find, its about the best price points and risk level. Remeber they are making up the difference should a name not reach the reserve. The business model is dictating this not the names available.

nice design to site, thats about all that can be said imo

aimed at resellers, yet we know we can get best buys on forums, or the loads of other venues or private sellers.
they sell one a day, so if you pop in even to their site once a day for 3 days and think they're selling cack then you're unlikely to ever return

a rich boys toy imo. no interest here

Am I understanding this correctly, you list a domain at Bido for $1, but Bido tosses in a GUARANTEED market value price, predetermined by them of course? Now in the back drop of this cherry picking club, Frank Schilling, Rick Schwartz, and all the other domain gods, kings, emperors, warlords, demigods, ninjas, etc, tilt the table further by rating your domain. Didn't I read somewhere that the "raters" can also bid?

This sounds SWEET! Where do I sign up?

I added a reserve of $999 per name. Doesn't that count or can they still sell for $1 and give you say $20 for your trouble?

I like the site...

Thoroughly designed...

Interesting concept...

Something different...

and never know when you'll have a batch of names - perfectly suited
for this particualr concept...

You mean I can get a real live ninja to rate one of my names!? What more could a domainer ask for!

That means you get 0.92 + 998.08, minus an 0.08 commission. I would assume that a $999 guaranteed reserve means you've just listed california.com for sale, which is pretty generous considering how much Sahar rants about overrated geos.

Hey, how come my domain was only rated one ninja star?

Hello to all!

During our initial launch we wanted to make sure everything was completely in order with our system. While the domains listed were not the strongest, we did make sure to include domains that would be good quality.

Currently, as I type this, RYY.com is on auction. We've just crested the $5,700 mark. Depending on the level of activity, it may go at a very good price.

Please know that the initial names were a starting point, not an end point. You can result assured that there will be bigger and better names in the coming days.

Panelist.com is one of the next ones coming up for auction, and it will get even better in the coming weeks.

Thanks!

Sean Stafford

Hey Sean, welcome aboard Best of luck with Bido.com, it's a niche market and the business model has great potential versus the "big" guys out there.

The names aren't that bad actually. **********.com would fetch at least mid-high xxx here at DNF, and DiscountImages.com is a nice two worder

Nothing groundbreaking however, and the best bet for getting a good price still remains Traffic (if you have a reasonable reserve), and DNF

Edit: Why was the domain I mentioned above replaced with *****?

Hi Sasha,

For starting out, they were pretty decent, not category killers...but still pretty good. However, the big names have yet to come. We are in the process of lining up some great names. Once we have the contracts have been signed I will be posting them here for an update.

Thank you!

Sean
