This is so stupid (the boycott spam email) i just can't believe it.
Wait a second..i think the move to rename "french fries" to "freedom fries" is even more stupid..and hypocritical.
yeah..freedom fries is pretty lame....but boycotting peugeot sounds like a pretty good plan.
apart from the fact that they have THE most comfortable drivers seat ever put in a passenger car, the rest of the product is a real piece of junk.

A couple of surprises in that list for sure. Let's face it, we are all sick of the Axis of Weasel (France and Germany). But let's not forget who are real enemies are. These are the terrorists who threaten our lives and our families and the countries that support or aid these terrorists.
That's why I think the best targets for boycotting are the oil companies importing oil from Iraq and the other terrorist countries. These companies are indirectly funding terrorist activites with there purchases of the natural resources and what is really sad is that many of these oil companies are American. I have been purchasing all of my gas from Sunoco, Conoco and Hess stations here locally which do not import oil from the Persian Gulf.

I'm with you! It's beyond goofy - it is outright nonsensical!
Boycotts are a very effective and diplomatic way of showing opposition to another parties actions. I applaud it on these merits even if I disagree with its intent.
In a modern society it would be a rational conclusion that there is not much room for hate. Let us hope that this logic will not blind us to the fact that this war will not go over well like our war in Afhganistan. The world community understood exactly why we conquered Afghanistan. It was the home of Osama Bin Laden and alqueida. Countries like France did not interfere.
This war (I consider it started as we are actively bombing Iraq ) is a pre-emptive strike on a sovereign nation. One that is actively disarming by destroying short range missiles and cooperating with the UN weapons inspectors. How will we look to the world as we attack a nation that is in the process of disarmament? So far, gaging by world opinion and antiwar rallies, not very good.
New York City council has voted to show it's disapproval of the war. So has the Los Angles city council. Retired army Generals from the Gulf war have spoken out against this war effort. The Pope is even coming out against the war.
One might say that Saddam is an evil man and that is why we must go to war but is that person justified for the thousands of civillians that die because our act of war? How has saddam Hussain all the sudden become a huge threat that requires the US to break ranks with basically the entire world and defiantly march into Bahgdad?
Setting up the military dictatorship after the invasion will be no piece of cake either. Imagine a foriegn nation trying to install a military government here to oversee us...........................................
I hope all that support President Bush in his rush to war are truly anylizing what is going on on all fronts. Take a look at the money men, Richard Perle with his company that deals in fighting terrorsim, Casper Weinberger owning stock in Beltek a military contractor that builds army bases, George Bush Sr as Senior Advisor to The Carlyle group the nations 10th largest defense contractor, Dick Cheney who was CEO (1995-2000) for Halliburton, a companywho recentlygot the contract to put out fires in the Iraqi oil fields after the war. These are just a handful of the men that are gaining huge profits from this war from bullets to oil. All very powerful and influential men in the Bush camp.
That said boycott France if you must but please research, understand and think hard about issues such as the
United States use of Depleted Uranium as a hardening agent for armor piercing artillary (we used over 320 tons of it in the first Gulf War. It was the first time to be used by the US in combat.), the possible use of calamity gasses by US troops in violation of the chemical weapons convention (international treaty signed by president Ford), and the reality of Iraq ran as a right wing military dictatorship.
As the battle draws near I pray peace to all parties concerned. May the heart of this war be won over by diplomacy so as to spare the lives of many innocent civillians and keeping the world in greater harmony rather than discord.

Why the French in particular? Just because their government is playing it's VETO card? (Which has been used FAR MORE FREQUENTLY by the USA).
Boycotting French products affects the common man more than the government there.
