I am not really up to date about whats happening but I know that without DNforum members this site has no value. The members/traffic is what gives it its value.
Am I the only one who feels like they are being pimped/sold here.

eBoz was sold for $15 k - I left them - will leave dnF to if sold.
But what if its sold to a "friendly" party, and the site continues as it was .... then everything should get back to normal ....![]()
Even better/worse(?), it seems the going policy for folks that leave is to have all their posts deleted as well. Were there to be any mass Exodus, the number of threads where people are talking to "ghosts" would multiply exponentially. A fairly poorer property I'd say... were many posts removed like this all together.Originally posted by Brujah

I did want to ad that I don't feel any malice towards anyone on this topic, since on yet another forum I can't claim the "from the forum we all came from" status... I don't have as much emotional investment.
I just want to find the status quo and not dwell in chaos.

I don't necessarily feel that way - but it is a good thing for all parties to the negotiations to remember. The membership roll here can not be counted on as part of the deal. Undoubtedly if a split occurs there will be some "Inventory" shrinkage (and we are the inventory).Am I the only one who feels like they are being pimped/sold here.
Personally, I would probably continue to visit this site and any offshoots until I decided where the most solid community had formed and I would be best off spending my time. Fracturing what we have is bad in any case but may now be something we will all have to deal with.

You are absolutely right, it is THE MEMBERS. Some posters here, Namethink in particular and a few others, have been heavily posting how it's mostly the 3 resigned Moderators who are the reason for success. Though Mods were very important to dnforum past success (and did a great job), the Members are FAR FAR more important.Originally posted by Tippy I am not really up to date about whats happening but I know that without DNforum members this site has no value. Thanks to all those negative posts from people claiming the 3 Mods were by far most important, it created a firestorm of great negativity toward the Owner Dan, and the rumored buyer![]()
Some members are wanting to leave, cancel membership here, move to a new forum the 3 Mods are said to be starting, all because of all the great negativity displayed by some rebel rousers here.
Now that its been revealed the owner Dan is surprisingly a 16 yr old 2nd year high school student young man (who made some 16 yr old mistakes) suddenly Namethink and thers are not so critical but it seems like the damage has already been done for the most part.

If the 'Real' buyer gets up and states his future plans for the site most will stay, even if they join the other new one.
We all belong to a few other forums so wot difference will it make, very little.
The real loser is Dan unfortunately, so contiue with the buy .. the place will recover in time.
A more experienced owner may even improve this place .. who knows.
Don't leave Dan holding the can.

The rumored buyer had absolutely no plans to change anything at all, even to the slightest degree. He was going to run it exactly the way it was always run, keeping the same Moderators and exact same format, not changing a thing. In fact, no one would had even noticed a change of ownership.Originally posted by AMERICAR If the 'Real' buyer gets up and states his future plans for the site most will stay, even if they join the other new one. Yes, perhaps a more experienced owner would be beneficial (especially regarding no server down-time goes as he has his own high speed server) but a big negative to the site would be no experienced Moderators as they all resigned, and heavy migration to the old Moderators rumored new web-site, which would take lots of traffic and posts from here unfortuantely.

RealNames,
You seem to know quite alot about the "rumoured" buyer. What is the "Real Name(s)" of this "rumoured" buyer?
Am I on the right track!![]()
(if so, call me Sherlock!)
Quite honestly I think this is nonsense...and a bit insulting to my intelligence. I and other people here are fully capable of making up their own minds. There were no "hypnotic suggestions" in the "negative" posts you are referring to that are compelling me to turn on Dan, the forum or the rumored buyer (rumored to be you).Originally posted by RealNames

In fact I have not seen a single negative comment about the rumored buyer posted here. Why should there be? He apparently heard the site was on the market, determined its value to him and made a strong bid. No one can fault that.
Dan made a mistake in the negotiations and admitted it. I feel no negativity toward him. As you pointed out he's 16 and subject to goof ups (it is my understanding that he agreed to sell to the mods at 3 separate price points - each increasingly higher, only to come back and raise the price a fourth time by another $800. If this is false and you are in a position to know, please correct this information).
I feel no negativity to the forum either - I have learned a great deal from this place. If the mods open another will I check it out? Most definitely, as I have already stated. But I have also said I will stick around here too.
I do not know Dan, any of the 3 mods or the rumored buyer personally, so I have no vested interest, other than hoping that the good thing that started here can somehow remain intact.
P.S. To suggest that someone should not express an opinion, whether it is negative or positive to your own position, is also utterly ridiculous. Statements like these are more likely to hurt your position as a possible future forum owner more than anything Dan has done or others have said here.

New members join here every Day .. the loss of a few posters will certainly make no difference in the long term .. plenty of new members will soon make up for that.
As for mods, you can't realy expect them to stay .. they after all they were the ones who missed out and were poorly treated .. find new ones.
This is a kick ass site, and will contiue to be so .. just be patient.
There is room for all.

No one suggested opinions should not be expressed, all what has been said is the many opinions expressed GREATLY exagerated the value of the 3 resigned Mod's and grossly under-valued the value of the owner and especially the members.Originally posted by Duke of Earl Quite honestly I think this is nonsense...To suggest that someone should not express an opinion, whether it is negative or positive to your own position, is also utterly ridiculous......
By exagerating the Mod's value so much it resulted in great negativity in general and requests for the 3 Mods to start their own forum and indications of extensive migration to it from here.
RealNames,
I hope you follow through on your agreement to purchase this site. Otherwise you've scewed the hell out of Dan. Your offer killed the mods offer. Time to put up or shut up.
Good Luck
