In English - the registrar is where you go to register the domains (Moniker, GoDaddy, etc..).
The registry is where all that information is kept (Verisign, etc..).

Did you mean if i use the "http://www.registrar.tld" for my domain registration website, is better than "http://www.registry.tld"?
After all the Verisign etc... is not have the business for direct register domain.

If you're looking for people to go to your site to register domains, then registrar.tld would be better.
Edit: If the price of the tld isn't too high, get both and forward registry to registrar![]()
