Are you for or against Greg? I have done business with him in the past and consider him a friend of mine.

Re: Greg Lasrado, Michael Gilmont, Webelion.com, NameMojo.com, DomainsFirst.com, etc

    Grab your popcorn folks

On 9/21/2006 I was contacted by dnforum user shad0w35 AKA Greg Lasrado regarding a few gambling domain names I had posted for sale. In this post he asked if the names had traffic and if I had any others. I responded back with a batch of around 90 names that I had with traffic and we reached an agreement on those names. Within this agreement Greg informed me he was new to the domain business and noticed I had a list service and he would throw in a few hundred extra if I sent him my lists for a few months and here is the summary of my reply,

"I don't mind giving you tips from time to time and even access to my site but to be honest I'm planning on shutting it down to the public. The objective was to compensate the revenues I would be loosing in giving up all of my secrets but as of yet I haven't even covered the cost of the billing script itself..lol I'll likely keep organizing and storing all of my files there so you can have access but don't get upset if I forget what I'm doing there."

He agreed to the price and the offering of my "tips from time to time " and we finalized the deal. In between time he asked for some sort of instant messenger so he could ask questions from time to time so I gave him my ICQ. We began chatting about the business the very next day on the 09/23 and he had alot of interest aswell as questions. It didn't take long before I could see that this was going to take alot of my time answering questions etc. I could also see that he was going to make alot of "newbie" mistakes due to the names he was sending to me to have a look at and give him my opinion. As I said I would, I began sending him lists. Also during our conversations I told him while I did make a decent living I didn't have the funding to really do alot of the things I wanted to do. He mention that if I continued to help him he would back me in some things and we would split the profits 50/50. We began discussing various idea I had aswell as some that he had. More or less some of the things he wanted to do I had already done in the past or had considerd doing so I already knew the cheapest route to do them.

On the very day we had this discussion I spoke with a friend/business associate who lived in Australia regarding Greg. To put it plain and simple David advised me to "watch my back." I also did some digging of my own and read some of his history. I mentioned to Greg that I have read up on his past and he stated "don't believe everything you read." I have to admit at this time I was considering not even doing the deal and/or getting caught up in the middle of anything that could turn out like his past business dealings.

This was also during the time of the .mobi landrush. He told me he was ordering them through pool.com which was $79 a year and I informed him of Godaddy offering them at $59. So right there I began to save him money. But there is also alot of great suggestions I made such as ADAPTOR.MOBI, ADAPTORS.MOBI, ARCADEGAME.MOBI, FREEPIC.MOBI, CROSSWORDPUZZLE.MOBI, FREEPIC.MOBI, FREESCREENSAVER.MOBI, PERSONALAD.MOBI, USAMAPS.MOBI, WORLDATLAS.MOBI just to name a few. I spent the better part of that entire night datamining names on this day the 09/27. On the next day I decided to make the first attempt at testing the waters on his offer. I sent over about 15 names I felt would be good sellers down the road. Greg didn't really understand my reasoning behind them all apparently and questioned my reasoning then so I just sent him these 7 and said I would definately get these HANDHELDPC.MOBI, HAWHAW.MOBI, MACADDRESS.MOBI, OPERATINGSYSTEMS.MOBI, TEXTTOSPEECH.MOBI, VOICEBROWSER.MOBI, VOICEXML.MOBI and he agreed he would get them. I then went a registered a few of the others on my own. So at this point we're only 7 names into our still "iffy" agreement.

A few weeks before all of this I had noticed several times in a users signature a name which I wanted more than any name and it was Tennesee.info. When I first saw it in his sig he had it priced at $12,000 and even then I was thinking of how I could come up with or wishing I had $12,000 to get it. On 09/30/2006 Mike was looking to raise some quick cash for a deal he was working on and posted this name along with some other names and stated he was looking for quick sale offers. I PM'ed him and asked him what the minimum was he would take on it and he stated "I wont sell it for less than 5k." I PM'ed him back and asked him if I could get him the funds within the next few days would he sell it for the $5,000 and he informed me he would but he had to have the deal funded by the following Friday. This was on Saturday night.

Which leads us to what I think we would both agree as the deciding factor on us going forward with our partnership agreement. I thought about it and I figured I would put Greg to the test on everything he said he would do. More or less if he agreed to getting this name I would go forward with working with him and devoting my time and experience in his new business venture. I sent over a IM to Greg and told him about the name and if he would purchase it I would take care of all of his ideas and make sure he didn't buy into any bad deals etc. More or less a complete partnership. He brought the money to the table and I brought the experience.

At first he was leary of doing it not knowing even what "Tennessee" was and even pointed to several off the wall extensions that were available. I sent him an email over stating this was a very good deal and those available extensions in no way even came close to comparing to this one especially with me being a big .info buyer/seller. In this email I told Greg if he bought the name I would turn over all of my non local related names to the business aslong as it was agreed that I got the name. Greg eventually emailed me back and said if I really wanted the names he would do the deal. I posted sold on the name that night and told Mike I would get with him the next day regarding payment.

The next day rolls around and Greg wanted to know which names I thought were also good deals that mike had. I pointed out about 4-5 but I really liked the price on las-vegas.info. Greg asked me to see how much we could get it for included on the deal so it would soften the blow on tennessee.info deal. I thought it to be a good idea so I made an offer to MIke of $7,000 for Tennessee.info and las-vegas.info and Mike agreed. Greg wanted to make payment via epassporte because he had the funds there readily available. Mike was worried that if he went that route he wouldn't get the money in time enough to close the deal he wanted to do so he wanted to do it via some other form. I decided to go the escrow route because the payment could be made via multiple forms so it would give Greg several ways to pay. I initiated the escrow agreement via Moniker.com that day. Greg said he would get it taken care of it and this was on Sunday 10/01.

Monday I traveled back home and got back to work on some of the things Greg and I had discussed. On Tuesday 10/03 I PM'ed Mike and asked if everything was ok on his end. He stated he received an email from moniker that the escrow was in the works so he thought all was well and it also settled my mind. I continued on with doing things for Greg. Most of which was moving thousands of names from one parking program to another and adding them to the various brokerage sites such as sedo and afternic. Doing my lists, merging our portfolios and answering Gregs questions. Basicly spending every waken hour on doing this that or the other for all of this but I felt I was working for something that I really wanted which was tennessee.info. All the while thinking Greg was taking care of funding it. On that day 10/03 I began to register names I had in my "to be registered lists." This is a list of names I continually update of good avilable names and when I have extra money I pick out the best that are still available to register and resell. I had actually been holding out on these names until I felt more comfortable with our arrangement and his commitment on tennessee.info gave me the reassurance I needed to give them up. At first I registered these names at fabulous

And I also told Greg would should get 50 backorders at Godaddy to catch some cheap drops with those. He ok'ed it and I requested Randy at GD place the order on the 4th and at the same time because I didn't have access to the accoutn that he place some backorders for us which resulted in the first three catches below but ultimately resulted in all of the following

Greg wanted to do some tasting so I suggested he get a Moniker account to that with. I gave him Monte's email and he funded the account there. I told Greg there were a few other names from my "stash" that were mostly from the buydomains adult and gambling name dump but a few others which either had linkpop or well worth the $7 they are as follows:

A few more days go by and on the 6th when Mike said he needed his money he emailed me saying Moniker has said they hadn't received payment on the escrow. I told Mike:

"I've been buried in his portfolio/sites so Greg said he would talk with you regarding the deal. The problem is he only has $4000ish in the paypal and it takes awhile for him to get more in. There's plenty in epass if we can do a split. Monte knows Greg, the funds are there, Greg told me he waned to discuss other names. We'll take care of Monte/Moniker in fact Greg just talked with him regarding it if we need to pull it out of escrow. If you can email him at Greg@ or ICQ 17-...-... He's expecting your email/PM either way we'll get it taken care of."

Which is exactly what I was told by Greg. I messaged Greg again via PM as I had done several times that week to make sure it was getting handled, mentioned I gave Mike his information and again he said he would take care of it. I let it go and get back to work on various datamining, registering, moving, etc. On 10-11 Mike PM's me again saying :

    "Hi,

Greg is not answering my mails for 2 days. Could you guys sort out the the payment today? I am in the big trouble and letting down other people because I am relying on you to make a pyament on time. If the payment is done please ignore this email .
    Mike"

    and here is my response:

"Yeah I'm sorry about it all it's been a long past week. I wish we would have went the epass route from the start if nothing else him sending it to me and me transferring it to my bank and sending to you.

We had abit of a heated discussion regarding that early this morn as I made a huge sacrifice for the deal to happen aswell. He told me he made the payment yesterday but whether he did or not I can't honestly say. He's asleep right now but I will ask him again when he gets up letting him know you have PM'ed me.

He has the money so I'm quite perplexed as to why he hasn't settled on it myself and he also understands both names are a deal. He now also understands that if I don't get the name his leap into this business will come to a screeching halt if he doesn't work it out one way or another. I'll let you know what he has to say when he gets up.

    John"

    His response to the above:

    "Hi John,

Thanks for update. If Greg said he paid for it that means he did it probably, so that makes things easier.
Regarding epass: The problem is that if he has money on his epass and he as a customer experiences so many problems and delays with the payment i would only imagine how many problems I could have had with it. I don't think for people in norht america this is a good payment options, but I might be mistaken.
In any case I don't want you guys to argue, if in case it turns out that he still didn't pay for the names please ask when it is going to be made finally,

    regards,

    Mike"

    My reply to the above:

"Nah the problem with using epass outside of it via the cards is there's a transaction limit. Mine is $500 but I would say his is likely $1000 for upgraded accounts. But yeah he's not looking to start things off on the wrong foot. We have both been busy as hell and I know he is more than I as he deals with his other business ventures. I'm just handling the domain business side of things and have alot on my plate with just that.

    John"

    His reply:

"Hi John, thanks for info. Keep me update please

    Mike"

Once again Greg has promised he would get it taken care of, appoligizes to me and says he thought it was handled by Michael. . By now I can see where this is going but I'm regretfully continuing on.

During the few weeks into this we both had the same vision. One of those was webelion.com. I'm not going to go into details on it just yet but the easiest route was a script which cost $700. The other was a domain registry. WHich again due to my experience I thought the best route was AWBS $130. Another project we both wanted to do was mini-sites. for all of our names rather than parking. I had a good cheap deisnger who would do headres for us at $10 each and my local coder was going to develop a simple to modify script so basicly all we had to do was change the keywords in one place, add the headers, and change the colors to mathc each header. Between all of this in addition to assisting Greg in his learnings and ontop of the datamining, moving and organizing names, etc it was all becomng a logistical nightmare for me. In addition to the workload there were many issues we ran into over the coming weeks which delayed those projects most of which I had no control over. Basicly waiting on other people to do their work.

During this week I received and email stating pool had a good selection of lll .mobis going for auction and ending around 10/10-10/11 I told Greg there were some good combinations in the list and we should drop atleast a few of those in the account and see what they go for in the end we ended up with these names

    uhf.mobi
    cig.mobi
    gcc.mobi
    gus.mobi
    jjc.mobi
    kcc.mobi
    lcc.mobi
    svc.mobi

On the 13th it became public knowledge that the lll .mobi's were disappearing rather quickly. I told Greg about the llI and we should get atleast some of them before they are gone. I had an old account at resellerclub where we could register .mobi's for $17 for the two years. He agreed to funding the account and I began picking off good combinations: he funded the accout with $500 and I registered up those funds rather quickly and I requested that he add more so we could get more before they are all gone so we added another $600 and I registered abot $400 worth more and Greg began to question my decision making there so i quit doing them. I had some cash on hand myself and considered registering some on my own but decided against it because i felt it would be a conflict of interest for one but I also had no idea even at this point of when I was going to start making any money out of all of this. Here are the list of names I datmined and registered there over the course of time.

On 10/21 I receive a messge from Mike/Provider and it is as follows.

    "Hi John

This is now serious. few weeks lasted but still Moniker didn;t receive payment for the names. Whats happening?

    Mike"

    And this is my reply:

"My understanding is it was being taken care of. Greg sent me and Albert an email asking Albert to run the transaction on his card but whether that happened or not I can't say. Again it's not good news for me that this topic has come up again. I'm replying to you before I go to Greg which I will do here very shortly. Between me and you this transaction getting completed (which has still been to my own belief that it was getting taken care of) is the deciding factor on how much further I put myself into his operation. I'll get back with you after I talk with Greg.

    John"

    His response:

"np, le tme know if you get any updates"

On 10/27 I receive this message from Mike:

    "whats happening guys?"

    My response:

"Mike if I had control of the money you would already be paid but I don't. In fact I gave up basicly all of my names just to get the name off the market and into atleast Gregs possesion for now. I'm not going to go into Greg and my arrangement but I can't wait any longer for this transaction to occur myself.

I'm going to give up my desire on this particular name but I'll chat with Greg on some of you other names and we'll work out something on names he may be more interested in himself. I'll suggest he go ahead and get las-vegas.info. If I had thought this was going to turn out this way I would have never posted sold to begin with. At this point I would say just have Monte pull the escrow.

If you want to send me the list of names you want to sell (I know you've sent them before but it's buried in the midst of thousands of emails) I'll get with Greg and settle him on something which might interest him more than what interests me since it is his money. The Tennessee name wasn't a for profit name so I guess thats made his motivation on finalizing it not as great as others. Between me and you I would consider going the epassporte route if he settles on something other. And I wish we would have went that route at first.

Thats about all I can say or do. My hands are tied.

    John"

    His response:

    "Hi John

There is no way to go back here, you ar eputting your reputation on the line in this forum. This is all I can say. You know how it works, you have to buy yhem now. I could post them on the traffic and sell them there,so a lot of missed chances for me.
Please talk to Creg, i am not really interested to sell any other names to you guys before we close this
transaction, hopefully you understand. I in return do understand that you are working with the partner, but the only thing I had control over is posting the names for sale. As I understand partical payment was done. How much was paid, and how much left?

    Regards,

    Mike"

    second reply:

"in addition to all that I had to pay for the domain name as soon as I receive your payment. I couldn't pay for it and i lost it, it was sold to somebody else"

    My response:

"Trust me I fully understand the ramifications. And it sucks for me. I've been put in a bad way myself outside of that fact primarily because I gave up my assets which was my regular earnings. As far as our partnership this transaction was part of the deal. It hasn't been fulfilled so as of right now I'm running with losses aswell. As far as what payment has been made again I have no idea. I do know that Greg told Albert to run his card but again I don't know if that was done as I don't have access to his financials.

If the payment was made on tennessee.info then that leaves the $2000 for las-vegas.info unpaid. I know Greg mentioned something about going that route and doing las-vegas.info on paypal.. In addition if thats the case there is $2000+ in the moniker account I taste with so it shouldn't be an issue there. Again I just don't know. I've asked Greg and last he said he was going to ask Michael his assistant what has/hasn't been paid. So the reality is he' doesn't even know. But the best thing for both of us is for you to contact him via ICQ 17-..-... and get him motivated to close the deal. I'll do the same.

    John"

    Second response:

"Scratch the ICQ he's having some issues there and not even getting my messages. his email is greg@ if you want to email him. I've already told him to close the deal asap and we'll just put them back on the market but you may want to email hi mwith your desire aswell.

    John"

At this point I've spent alot of time given up alot of my names, lost out on .mobi landrush, and lost income for nearly a month. It was a pivotal moment in the arrangement. I had pretty much decided that things weren't looking good for me but being the nice guy that I am I gave Greg the benefit of the doubt and let it ride for a few more days. I never heard from Mike again and Greg said it was getting taken care of so I assumed again all was fine and angain regretfully continued on.

On 11/05 I was "I believe accidentally" forwarded an email. The email was in regard to Tennessee.info and las-vegas.info. Basicly it was Monte saying that Mike had asked that the escrow be cancelled and for his names back. Receiving this email set me off. Here we are over a month in and Mike told me and Greg he needed hiw money within a week and greg Still hasn;t settled the deal. Within minutes I began moving all of my names out of Gregs accounts because the way I saw it then is the deal was off. In addition to all of that I had told Greg I need to make money within weeks and my reserves were pretty much depleted. We had agreed in the beginning I was spending so much time on doing all of these other things I didn;t have time to do alot of sales posts and price negotiations so either Greg od Michael was suppose to get on the boards and start making some sales so we could all make money. It never happened. Along the way I made a few posts here and there when I had time. On two occassions I ran ebay auctions and also had them put a name I selected in a namepros auction. 2 names which cost $17 each sold for $500 on ebay minus some fees. Around $160 worth of .infos that were mine to begin with sold and the funds went into Gregs account and a name which I datamined, registered, and told him to sell on namepros.com auction sold for $100.

Basicly up until this day neither Greg or Michael have made any effort to sell any names or pretty much anything else but renew some names they already had before this all began and complain about everything. I have done all of the work. Greg states he has put in all this time to this well the truth is he's learning what it's taken me 4 years to learnin a few months. So obviously he's busy learning. Other than that no contributiuon other than financial backing. Gregs biggest complaint is that some thigns weren;t done but as you can see from the history of things all of which I have timestamped verifiable proof of via emails, PM, and IMs Greg didn't fulfill the very first agreement made which basicly lead to me stopping all work. I did coninue to answer questions here and there and try to keep an open mind and and open line of communication but to this point there has been no sign of any compensation for my time, knowledge and losses.

Everytime I tried to sell names to make some money for us all I was met with a roadblock. You're selling too cheap blah blah blah. It was agreed from the beginning that the way I do business is to sell names at a decent return to cover expenses, make everyone a little bit of money and wait out the remainder. Well either Greg never had any intention to do this and just wanted me to build up his portfolio while I spend all of my own reserves and drive my own business into the ground or somewhere along the lines he decided not to sell at reseller and hold out. Either way that wasn't the origianal agreement.

I have made two offers of a settlement. The first being 25% of the names so I can go and sell them and buy tennessee.info off of him. I even gave him all of the permium names and just wanted the lower 25%. The cost of the names works out to less than $2000 for the months of work I have put in. Last week needing to get on with my own business and own life I made an offer of a settlement anyone intheir right mind would accept and that was for 25% of just the .mobi's considering I missed out on the .mobi landrush and this is one of my biggest gripes. Greg returns with basicly half of that so obviously I told him where he could stick his offer.

End result. Greg Lasrado has cost me several months of time (time is money), a missed landrush, all of my reserves, and very shortly will cost me my business because I have to liquidate what assets I now have to just cover my basic expenses. I have broke down all of the expenses and I also have screenshots of all spendings. The names if sold today not even two months in would easily sell for $30,000+ even if liquidated. Nearly double whats invested but the truth is thy are worth alot more... I don't feel I'm asking for alot considering what he would be walking away with and especially since this whole situation has put me in the financial position it has.

    Added Today:

Yesterday I believe in an effort to walk away from this entire affair with absolutly everything. NOt even 1 cent paid to me and in fact a number of my names were sold an went into Gregs greedy bank account. Greg somehow was able to move all of the .mobi names registered under my master reseller account to an account under his. This was really the only thing I had any remaining control over. Once seeing that he had done so I suspended the account which had roughly $415 dollars remaining. Once Greg found out that I had suspended the account and funds he ablsolutely flipped. Calling me a theif (the guy who has worked for nothing for him all this time) a theif.

JMJ, I think you should talk to me before posting my PMs (PRIVATE massages)here and mentioning me in this affair in the first place. I don't really want to be mentioned in any negative light if somebody has problems with their business partners.

There's nothing in there negative as far as you're concerned. Noone could blame you including me on how you handled the situation. In fact you were alot more reasonable than I obviously would have been had I been in your shoes. The outline of events wasn't prepared to be posted on the boards it was prepared for other reasons but there was no other choice for me. It just happens to be that you're deal played a key part in the entire situation. I edited the post to just "mike" I'll see if I can get RJ to unlock the thread over at NP to do the same.

Seems like Mr. Lasrado gets around. He's been leading me on in a 5-figure transaction now for 3 months, and now I can see why. Well, I told him the deal would be called off without an affirmative response today, so there that goes. What a waste of time & effort. I'm sorry you were partnered with him and hope you get something resolved with him.
