    How Canada Got its Name

Back in the 1500s three guys were sitting around a campfire. One looked up and said, "We need to name this great land. Do either one of you have any ideas?"

After about an hour of hashing it over, nobody could think of what to name this new land. Finally, one of the guys had an idea. He said, "Lets put all of the letters of the alphabet in a hat and draw letters. We will name the country that way."

Because they could not think of a name, the other two agreed that this would be a good idea.

All the letters of the alphabet were put into one of their hats.

The first guy reached in and picked a letter and said "C eh".

The second reached in and drew a letter. "N eh".

The third reached in and drew his letter, "D eh".

    Hence the name "Canada"

    No less funny

This is actually no less funny than the TRUE story of how Canada got its name when the White people from Europe mistook the word "kanata" which meant "the village" as the name of this land when the aboriginal natives actually referred to a village that came into sight.

    Canadian, eh

Canadians, esp. the old generations, often end their sentences or questions with an "eh" (pronounced as "A").

So (according to Bob who promised to move to Canada if I sold him a certain Canadian place domain), we have C-eh-N-eh-D-eh, or C-A-N-A-D-A!

Have you ever tried to EXPLAIN a JOKE? I just did!
