Seagate FreeAgent Theater HD 500GB Media Player Solution
This is available right now, no waiting until Friday, and includes a 500 gb drive. The price alone for the External Hard Drive is 99 bucks.
The additional 50 bucks off is at checkout. FREE shipping. Staples may charge your state's sales tax.
The coolest thing I like about this is the ability to insert additional drives into the player so in essence there is literally ZERO capacity restrictions.
This is $199.99 on Seagate's site and that is about what most sites list this for.
I just ordered one for myself and may consider ordering more as Christmas gifts for my siblings.
NOTE The links I posted are merchant links from their online sources. These are not affiliate links.
UPDATE:Amazon has the 500gb in silver for 91.99 and when you purchase the docking station on the same order, you get the docking station FREE! (price adjusted at checkout)
Good deal.
The only drawback is the system has limited support for video format.
Still a good deal for $99.

Yes, I read the reviews before ordering (as well as reviews by actual users).
There is a site called DVDshrink.org that may help in playback.
Also, seagate does have a more expensive model with HDMI.
I am happy to find such a device that is not constrained by size of HD or having to pay for TiVo or some other such thing.
