I wrote a paper on this in my Abnormal Psych class and it's pretty much way overblown and too early to make any conclusions. Just because many of us use the internet a LOT - doesn't mean there's an addiction.
If you had to stop using the internet for a few months, the chances are, you would be able to do it without any problems or withdrawal. Of course it would be very disapointing because of the profit factor (like getting fired from a job), but aside from domains most of us would have no problem leaving the internet.
