Yahoo rejected it a while ago. It's suspicious that it could have been a ruse to make Yahoo's stock jump up (from $18.xx to $30.xx overnight) so the execs at Yahoo and MS could make a lot of money.

I'm seeing a trend like this.

I think MSN does intend to buy Yahoo but because they having been playing hard to get, MSN will probably do it the less popular way...when they withdraw their bid the stock will fall back toward pre-bid levels and MSN can buy it up even cheaper than their offer. They will just have to do some damage control later.

BTW, I mentioned back in FEB, when the offer was first made, that anyone that owns Yahoo should take the $ and run.

It's fun to follow this struggle for Yahoo's soul. I bet Microsoft will get it sooner or later.

I don't get it. Yahoo is still one of the most popular websites out there. Why do they need to sell?

Yahoo doesn't want to sell - Microsoft wants to buy.

    I hope it never happens.

I on the other hand hope it does happen eventually. At least google will have a strong rival in the ad sector. Now they are doing whatever they want because they practically have no concurrence

Msft will never be able to complete with goog with their current ad structure. They need to make an acquisition in order to stay competitive. Right now their ad campaigns are terrible, to say the least.

Even if M$ buys Yahoo it will be very difficult for them to compete with Google for the international market. Google is at the moment very well implemented and it will be almost impossible to get a chunk of the market... in the US, I guess they may have a chance to get something more with it.

I hope I'm wrong, though... I'd like to see M$ and GOOG at the same level and competing each other for the market

With competition, the small business or entrepreneurs have more option. So I hope M$ get Y to compete with Google.

Soon we will see increasing revenue share from 50% to 60% or more from google adsense or M$ will initiate this to lure publishers to them.
