I'm not looking for 'go through the expired lists' -reg first and last names - put snaps on good dn's - check ebay - mine three letter dn's,minus z-v-x-q -
Try to grab dn's with a snap on them and sell it to that person; etc.
Looking for secrets.

Whatever strategy you use to acquire DN's, how do you 'sell it fast'?
eBay is for bargain hunters.

I did not sell a lot of domains, so I may not be the appropriate one to share.

I sold them after 1 year (very slow) coz the price I set was high.

I got better response after I did the following, which everyone (include you) here knows how.

My 2 cents:

1. Build a Domain for Sale page. Do not rely on GD and AF. In the web page, convince your visitors why buying your name is a right decision. Normal buyers usually don't go to GD and AF to shop for domains. The serious buyers will key in your domain in the browser and see what is in your site.

2. Cut down the price by more than half. If the cost to get a domain is $100, I will be more than happy to sell it at $200. How many business can get 100% ROI?

It is easier and faster to sell a low-priced domain. If you price the domain for too high, it will take a long long time to sell it, unless it is a really good name.

3. Let the lousy names expired. Don't renew them. This will free more $ for other investment. Even old birds make bad decision sometimes.

Probably the others here have "insider" info. They may be able to help you better.

Another point, if you get an offer on a domain, it may be the last.
I turned down 3k for:
NewtonianMechanics.com
The Physicist thought he was trying to create a grand unified theory, his emails were many and confusing.
I started to become annoyed and it showed in my responses.
Now, it sits collecting dust...
I haven't tried to sell it.. from what I have been reading Einstein may be wrong about a few things, so, Newton may get the 'top spot' back.. then there should be interest in it.

BTW You mentioned AfterNic.
Back when ppl. were allowed to appraise domains you could sell some,ummm, not very good domains.
I had offers on Flatterer.com, and turned 'em down...now, its another dust collector.

I know there are exceptions to my personal rulez, like engineering.org, sex.info, and many more, but when it comes to finding the best names, time is my enemy.

Note: I do so much research that I take it for granted. I left this out of my original post... ALWAYS Research before you register.

1. Research terms / genre / popularity with Google.
2. Research similar names.
3. Research trademarks.
4. Research news headlines - daily.
5. Read everything that you can find.

The diamonds are expired, on-hold and new technology domains.

1. Dot-Com only.
2. 12 letters or less.
3. No hyphens - No numbers - No abbreviations.
4. Generics first.

Think twice:

1. about more than two words.
2. about plurals.
3. about word variations such as those that end with ed, est, ing, etc.
4. about trademarks... think three times.
5. about fad names, tricky names or cute names.

BE PATIENT - If you don't find one today, maybe you will tomorrow.

Keep excellent records - simple text files work great:

1. name registration / expiration dates, costs, registrars.
2. name inquires - sales, questions, comments or threats.
3. name genre news, information and rumors.
4. if you are promoting online, track traffic / type-in statistics.

Promote your domain names and build online presence:

1. dedicated offer pages such as: www.InsideCinema.com
2. dedicated offer page variants such as:
www.PayPerPlay.com or www.TabletPCs.com
3. single generic offer page to point all of your domains to such as: www.nameminer.com/html/offers.htm
4. free Vstore such as www.GamerSpot.com
5. one page affiliate revenue streams such as www.GroceryGate.com, www.SoleMate.com or www.ClickArt.com
6. forget gambling www.HeyLucky.com
7. one page with all your names for search engine spiders such as my www.domainduck.com/hi/ddnames.htm

note: the above pages use free MyDomain.com forwarding, which sometimes does not work [sigh] and are hosted for $60.00 USD / year. They show examples of what a little guy can do. Not award winners, just examples.
