Question Odd how $ drives the registrars!!! xxx.com

after doing some manual labour.... no tools or software  we have noticed that a number of registrars seem to be "making sure" that domains of value are getting re-registered.... now we are all for helping out when it comes to a gentle reminder to the owners...but....

xxx.com became available through one of our other lines of business, the actual domain was part of an irs "grab some $ before the company fails" deal.... now after tracking the said .com for a number of months.... waiting to make a move.... we noticed that the registrar had become "intrested" (mainly for the traffic/exposure, we think) and had started to "communicate" with the repo team directly.... odd.... as no-one had shown any interest and all "notices" of renewal had gone by without any reply.... this is an while back by the way.... we were then given the wink as to when to move on the said .com.... weird as it may seem.... the Pending Deletion date was extended.... the registered owners company was dumped.... a new company was formed.... the domain was reregistered to the new company.... the new company owners are connected to the registrar! the domain was never deleted and we seriously were the only ones that knew about the sale date....

something very, very odd went on.... so we watched a few more.... and once again.... on at least 6 times the registrar has got in on the act... via either an "agent" or a "new company formation in a VERY similar name to the previous owners".....one was a 14 year old .com, massive company, massive traffic, no indication ANYWHERE that domain was with company.... yet never got deleted, just extended?

is this the way forward for high value IP on the net.... soon maybe all "registrars" will be giving the hint to others for a "kick"???

    any views....

Re: Odd how $ drives the registrars!!! xxx.com

By continually "forwarding" the domain, it holds it's original formation date and it's page ranking too... hat increases value as well.

No, these guys aren't stupid. Arguably corrupt, but not stupid.

Am I the only one that thinks that Registrars should NOT be allowed to own domains? Total cand complete conflict of interest since they basically control what happens to a domain, who get's what and when.

Insider trading could be running rampid and we'd never know.

How many other of these "perpetual transfers" are going on?

And all the while, as we depend on ICANN to keep this from happening, ICANN is busy trying to figure out a way to rape US, the actual domain holders, for more money on their insance sliding scale domain rate charges!!!

    Grrr....

    hey GoPC your right too!

in fact you have said more in that paragraph than 15 days of bull from the big guys! we think the next step will be a documentry on the cons of ICANN etc and then maybe a movie!!!! it would be like the Mcdonalds "super size me" fame

as another point we have been tracking a "company" and were shocked to find out that they have just "got" a VERY EXPENSIVE prenom xxx.com FOR FREE!

the company seems to portray an affiliation with a big registrar as a "reseller" when in fact the company they are shielded behind is a direct connector in the "managers" of another offshore trust... guess what! owned by the registrars family!!!!

no wonder everyone thinks this industry is dying and no-one is bothering to use registrars anymore.... shame really but $ talks
