Seems to have been down all day. Just doing some work on a set of .co domains and websites that I've surveyed and was wondering how that .co thread had been going.

    NamePros Is Down - April 24, 2011

While NamePros is down there's another site that's getting traffic for the keywords 'NamePros Is Down" so I figured why not drive that traffic here to DNF.

Unfortunately, NP has been down for most of the day and being it is Easter Sunday maybe they took the day off.

Well I hope they get back up as I do have some sales to complete.

    Happy Easter Everyone!

it's a db error, they are probably restoring from backup.

too many posts , too many concurrent sessions ..
each thread has n number of bumps , same threads posted in multiple places ,
do more harm then good ....

this is common with NP , they seriously need to think on policies rather then technology!

I would hate to be an advertiser over there, this happens way too often with them. I hope they credit them back when situations like this happen. They are so big of a site and have been around for so long I can't believe silly things like this still happen with them and it seems to get more and more frequent every year.

vBulletin running with many modifications / add-ons is server intensive, and takes a lot of software / database maintenance to keep it running well. For a site the size of NP, 1 or 2 front-facing web servers and a back-end database server should be sufficient. 2-3 servers running hot-swappable RAID (pretty much standard these days) is a cinch to maintain in respect to hardware - it's mystifying as to why NP is seemingly down so much for so long, unless, as I suspect, it's software / db issues that continue to crop up. Hope NP get the kinks worked out and is running again soon.

    Hmm ...

I'm there almost every day and in 7 years I may have seen them down 3 times.
However this time it's been for a couple of days now.

I'm curious ... obviously my post places me in the "them" category
of your post. So the next obvious question would be for me to ask
you why you feel so strongly that you would actually post such a
    seemingly personal retort?

Do you care to elaborate? My interest is purely of curiosity. I'm sure
we can be civil in discourse on the matter. And I am a member of
both forums. So I am "us" and I am "them". You can understand my
    position. ..... and curiosity.

Given that you're looking for an explanation, and despite the fact that I'm wholly indifferent, let me explain:

In the context of my post, "them" = NP. Not you personally, unless you own NP.

I find the site trite; puerile, unreliable, boring and badly moderated.

    Hope this helps.

This time, the down time is really long, still not resolving. I actually noticed since RJ is no longer in charge, fewer people posting on NP, so they should not have traffic related problems.
