You are basically paying the provider's right to do business as a franchisee -
Isn't that sweet? They, as a business, have to pay for the rights to call your self so-and-so.
And you, as a customer, are giving them money so they can still keep calling themselves a "franchise".
Here is the definition:
Franchise Fee is the fee paid by the franchisee to the franchisor initially to acquire the franchise.
I have been seeing discussion on television regarding all these "hidden" and "added" fees, particularly from telecomms, cable cos, and so on.
There may be some action taken by congress. We'll see.
Lol, AT&T is a joke... Comcast is MUCH better and their customer service seems much more competent than AT&T's...
In my opinion if you have comcast and would like to switch, wait for Verizon and get the FOIS package... I have to wait til early 2010 I believe, but its going to be worth it, plus the pricing is hard to beat for some of the fastest internet you can personally get.
there all rip offs and offer you a package for 6 months and bump up the fees to about the same price, been there done that!
I loved when I had Comcast 50m service and my account got froze at 250gb of downloading. I was then forced to drop the service or upgrade to business class at an additional $50/mo for "unlimited" (throttled service as well).
Gotta love 'em!![]()
I don't know what area you live, but I can say we just switched from Comcast to AT&T U-verse and couldn't be happier. Our bill is $75 lower each month PLUS we receive more channels than we did with Comcast. The customer support has been nothing less than friendly and helpful the couple times we called with questions. The Comcast support is dumb as a rock and very rude the couple times I have called with problems. I am happy to have dumped them.
The sales chat support was also friendly, except I was talking with a rep on the West Coast, and he couldn't answer billing questions b/c on the East Coast, the office was closed. This was no big deal. I simply called the following day to confirm the cash back amounts I am going to receive.
Regarding the installation cost they stated in chat, which seems rather strange, I know most services (phone, cellphone, cable) will ask for a deposit from those with no to bad credit which is usually refunded after a certain period of time.
