    Today's LLLL.com = Yesterday's LLL.com ?

FIVE LLLL.coms made this week's Top-20 Sales chart at DNJournal...

    7. CMAS.com $15,250
    11. ESWC.com $11,111
    13. KREA.com $10,500
    16. Else.com $10,018
    20. Limb.com $8,500

That's 20% of the Chart. Very impressive. Two of the five domains are words (limb.com and else.com) - and those were the in the lower positions.

It seems that a number of recent LLLL.com sales are now in line with LLL.com prices of three or four years ago.

I believe the lower-priced (less quality letters) LLL.com sell for about $3,000 to $5,000, and good-quality LLLL.com often sell in the same range, or higher.

Since there are so many more 4-letter combinations, those with the less-popular letter combinations may not have any substantial value for several years, but it is clear that quality LLLL.com combinations will have very good value and potential to keep going up.

    So, are Today's LLLL.com yesterday's LLL.com?

Also, earlier threads posted projections on when all LLLL.coms would be registered. I wonder what that projection is now?
I've got more where these came from!

well in all reality you shouldn't count stuff like tees, cups, dude, and all that because they are words. Thats the same as saying ace, sex, lap, etc...

I can share a little story...in 2002 I sold cov*.com to a start-up laboratory for $500. Back then, it was as much as "random" letter LLL .com's were selling for.

The company was just acquired by the #1 pharmaceutical company in the world, with $48 billion revenue in 2006.

Wild to think about 2001 or 2002 in the domain space because the US was in a mild recession, remember it well. Many of us were believers, but some were not and they just let their names drop. Of course this was the first real pullback of the internet bull/boom so it was unique but we could be entering another mild recession soon or be in one already (should be less strong than previous) and some opps may present themselves again as a result.

    all so true...

though this time around, domains may be like "money market investments" against the recession. as we know more about the potential values of domains than before.

in a depressed economy, domain values may not rise as fast but they surely won't go down.

Mild recession? The post-9/11 era was deep into the waters of doom and gloom. Unemployment was rampant, social phobias were extended against all foreigners, economy dived (I remember Disney stock was $12 a share). I probably hand-registered a bunch of names from droplists then.

Bottomline... LLLL.com is the new LLL.com

You could register them till late last year but now that they're gone they are worth more than 4x reg fee, even the worst ones.

Sales of domains in four figures are common, some even five and six figure sales are also reported, just like LLL

A company starting out today is more liable to take a prnounceable 4L or even 5L nonsensical word to use, especially if they want a .com, generics are just not available, unless you're willing to go with another TLD and losing *some* traffic to the .com

A billion users currently and another billion expected and everyone wanting a .com - its suddenly a really small available market with less than 500k actual LLLL.coms

Even domains we are selling now, will be worth 3x by the end of the year and 5x by the first quarter 2009. Specially pronounceable, brandable or acronym LLLL.

The opportunity is still at the first floor only - bargains are still to be had, it takes the wise man to spot them and act on it.

Sure seems like a lot of people are looking for LLLL.com's, anyway.

Even in 2005 you could have bought as many good LLLL.com's for <$20 each, if not reg fee (not words, but good letters). Even CCC.com's could be had for <$20 each.

I remember LLL.coms selling on ebay for $200-$300. I was flat-assed broke back then, but I should have stole the money to buy some.

Anyway, I've stupidly sold many LLLL.com. But after seeing what's been happening, I'm probably holding almost all the rest, and buying more when I can.

Not the first floor any more, but this may well be the second - of a very tall building.

My fault entirely, just thought the addendum was logical, not that I see they are from last year it makes them even more significant.

But I still think we're at the first floor. Last week someone was selling all premiums for $200 ea.

If you want a lower / lower basement opportunity though, I posted a list of available dictionary LLLL.in a while back on DNF.
