There was a document circulating on the internet about 6-7 years ago as to what to do with all of the AOL disks you got in the mail. My all-time favorite was:
"Attach a ruler to the disk and presto! A new fly-swatter"
As far as your friend goes, if he keeps it up, he might have a collector's item someday!

I once read that rickshaw owners use them as reflectors.
