you're talking opinion or you want to get an answer referring to what to do when you are broke or close to it and you want to do something in the domain industry?
If it was just a generic thing, i would ask you what is important to you. What do you want to see your life being? Hard to say really..some people would say stop being lazy, others would say go and work for an NGO/peace corp for a year...and other would say...get a job teaching English overseas. I got tons of friends teaching English...not sure whether it's the appeal of travelling or maybe just going away far away from local women/men and finding a significant other because they ALL come back married...OR they end up living abroad for the rest of their lives.
As for the domaining realm...you can't be quick with your decisions...and everything has a little risk. I think you should keep your ear to the ground, always keep updated on what's being bought and sold and you might just find a sweet deal because you know what sells and what doesn't.
I got almost no assets..debt..but not sooo much, but really need or should pay it off..I just lack focus which I am working on. You should have a good understanding of your weaknesses so you can strengthen them.
my 2 cents
No it's me, I cant seem to get any gigs and people are being slow in my broker stuff. I am just trying to brainstorm what I can do
You can make money online - you (anyone) just need to have a plan and use the time wisely - spend more business time than social time.
First thing to do would be taking an inventory of your skill and market them.
I can always use an extra hand if I know your capability and time!
Good luck!
Being productive is the key.
For starters lets use your current business/trade Starpower domains. If you aren't getting alot of business maybe you should come up with new ways to creatively advertise yourself and your services. Bring more interest to what you can offer.
On another note what other things can you do to help bring in income while boosting your business.
Can you write or design? Can you offer specific services/products: web Hosting, directory submissions, creation of social network accounts.
There are many things to make money and these are just basic online stuff.
If you have limited talents and plenty of time this may be your chance to learn something new. Find something that semi interests you and read and test until you are good at doing it.
Graphics is something that takes awhile to learn but can make you some decent money with little time.
If you have domains that have no use try setting up a wordpress blog and writing some unique content for it. Apply a decent theme and either sell it or add google adsense and try some CPA offers on it.
Good luck.

Well my team (sister) and my drummer buddy and I have decided to just trek on with this adventure. Our skills are web design, content management, software development, and project development.

Forging?? woot is scary!
here's my advice...
sometimes when people/members overly try and promote themselves, it usually ends up backfiring.
i've seen it happen a few times here at dnf
find one thing that you can do well and if by chance you do get a job/contract...deliver quality work, on-time!
stop trying to be the everything service for everyone.
no smart domainer with valuable names is going to let your broker them when you don't have a track record
no smart member is going to give you a content deving job, when you don't have a portfolio or design work without references.
you (not you personally) can end up ruining your rep before you even establish one, by claiming to have more skills, resources and experience than you really do.
from what i've seen imo...

Or might want to find a normal full time job and manage your rest of the team to do other stuff. By doing full time job, you could invest in quality domains and this time is good for investment.
Good luck
