secretary.org
My wife has been a secretary all along, but I thought it's just a .org so I passed it back then. Sigh! Even NOW, it's worth at least 4 figures. LOL!

Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.
I had nin.com on the screen years ago.
Oh well.
I remember seeing penpals.org available once and did not both regging it
I saw Italy.net and India.net once.... thought they were typos... 20 minutes later I tried to register them and they were gone.... :emba: .... how embaracing.... :disappoin

Actually it was about a month or two ago on Deleted Domains....it boggled my mind  when I saw them on there because I then checked whois and they weren't do for expiration... made me wonder if the Deleteddomain folks sift out the names first then have fun with us who use that system....what do you guys think?
India.net/Italy.net would not have lasted long enough for you to have seen them avail (a couple of months ago).
Maybe 6 years ago![]()

There are so many...way back when you could first buy domains I remember checking all kinds of words and 2 letters 3 letters dictionary words etc. They were all available...could kick myself for not purchasing them then..
However, the one that hurt the most- my corporate initials "VDS" was available and I'm still grumbling on that one:(
Same here, I recall checking lots of keyword 1 word coms and most were available circa 95-96. Names like web.com internet.com realestate.com travel.com email.com cars.com and other great ones unreg'd from what I remember! I did reg some names in 95 and 96 but not that great, and had my first website running in 1996.Originally Posted by FMS
Did not even need to pay for them at the time as they were either free for a while about 95, or NetSol later sold the names on a 30 day billing basis, I think that was in 96. What an idiot I was at the time. People were saying lots of negative stuff about the-web at the time, such as why would anyone possibly use the web and use a name like realestate.com.

Just about any 3 letter .info I didn't pick up in the past year and a half. :(
In 95-96 when those great million dollar plus names were unreg'd the world-wide-web was almost unknown and sparsely used by the public, except for financial market quote machines, very early email usage, and a few other early little used web programs, virtually no one used the web, and there were few websites online.Originally Posted by Steen
I was actually using the internet heavily (financial quote machine use) as early as 1982 and an Apple 11e (then an IBM XT about 85 or so), but even though I was using the internet for 13 yrs prior to its popularity starting in 95-96 I still had no idea about the value of domain names and websites.
I was not alone, most all people who were using computers at the time said why in the world would a domain name have any value, even if it was free (which it in fact was free at the time about 95)? That was because as I said, virtually no one used the WWW and only a small number used the Internet, and websites were not popular and the few online were mosty unknown.
Virtually no would could even visualize it ever getting popular, the Web that is, many (including myself) thought the internet itself would grow and become more widely used one day but the concept of using a web-browser and domain names and websites was very obscure at the time.
Nevertheless I still cant believe I could have been so dumb to not visiualize it even after much experience using the internet most every day for so many yrs prior to the mid-90's! This is all very tough to explain and justify to those who were not there at the time of the opportunity of a lifetime that is was.
WebRing.ws

The competition is FIERCE.
I can totally relate to that as it has happened to me over and over.
It's a small world after all...
It's a small world after all...
It's a small world after all...
It's a small, small, world.
One thing many do not realize another benefit of .ws is that .ws dns is virtually immediate, so as you can see I've put a lot of work into the site already over the course of last night and today. Sorry to have that happen to you. But what a better thread to realize it than here? I say go get webring.fm -it's is available...

I must admit, I forgot.Just curious, I could have made some good sales, if only I took the risk of Domain Name Speculation and hand regged names when they were available.
My first domain/site I have was 123-freestuff.com. Well, I saw 123free.com drop. And the day after it was avail. Decided to hold out see what else is there... Then the next day I went to reg it, and gone. Then I saw "123-freestuff.com" and was like "better get this one before someone else does".
I regret that a lot123-freestuff.com isn't the most memorable domain in the world, and a hyphen
