June 25, 2008 · The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers votes this week whether or not to lift restrictions on top-level domain names. If so, any string of letters could be registered as a domain, meaning registrars need not be limited to ".com," ".org," and the like anymore. In the latest in the BPP's "Make Me Care" series, BBC Technology editor Darren Waters says if the change happens, "the net could see its biggest transformation in decades."
