DNF$: 2,626 Location: Grand Rapids, MI | What's your favorite movie of all time? I need to come up with a bunch of people's favorite movies, but not necessarily the top grossing movies of all time. For instance, one of mine would be Pulp Fiction.
I don't need any anecdotes or explanations of why they are your favorites, but by all means write one if you want to
What I really need is a long list of great movies to make people reminisce and feel good. This will be going into a marketing piece, sort of a "background" subliminal listing to get them thinking about movies.
Please don't PM me, as I would much rather view them here when I am ready, plus your movie choices might inspire others to remember theirs.
So... what's your favorite movie of all time? |

Country: | Definitely Akira Kurosawa's 1952 masterpiece Ikiru. It inspires a copycat scene in Cameron Crowe's Jerry "Show me the money" Maguire and Tom Hanks was reported remaking an English version out of it.
By the way, nearly ALL mainstream Hollywood directors have studied Kurosawa's movies, including Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas who helped distribute them to the general American audience.

i don't believe it. i figured everyone had seen it by now.
if you're going to see it, watch the first one before
you watch the second, otherwise the second wont
make any sense.
best regards,
luc l.

Country: | In order of preference:
(1) Platoon
(2) Matrix I
(3) Star Wars (original)
(4) Die Hard (1st movie)
(5) The 10 Commandments
That pretty much rounds out the top five:
edit: I did also like the movie "Powder" which I would put at number (6). It's about an albino child with an IQ that is off the charts. He also has special powers of perception, ESP, and healing powers. Great movie!

Not only did it inspire the 1960 western classic "Magnificent Seven" (starring Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and James Coburn), it also dwarfed director Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien) who clearly copied that famous horseback fighting scene in his disappointing but Oscar-winning Gladiator.
