    What's the latest with Afternic?

I've been out of the domain loop for awhile... I was among Afternic's first members, and enjoyed it there - for awhile. Then it started to fall apart, so for that and other reasons I quit. Now you have to pay $49 or something to join? Is anyone still dealing with them? Is anyone selling anything there? Thanks.

There's very little of the old Afternic left, and it's much harder to use. Word is they are shutting down, but rumor may be that it may just remain on autopilot. Here's a rundown"

    Forums - gone
Appraisals - gone (thankfully on this one)
DNEscrow - gone (they now use Escrow.com)
Support - gone Can't find a human, email address, or phone # anywhere on site.
    Domains Wanted - gone

Listings now expire if they get no bids in 30 days. The up side is that all the listings are fairly fresh. The down side is they drop from for sale to the not for sale portfolio. You then have two ways to relist. One way is to one by one click sell on each domain from a single drop down box or domain button. For lots of domains this is very tedious. The second way to relist is to upload all domains in bulk. Unfortunately if you do this they all go to uncategorized or only one category as make offer with no descriptions. Now the bulk of domains listed there are uncategorized.

Prices in the last couple weeks have looked up, probably since all the junkie expired domains are gone and there's fewer to look through.

    Thanks, Mark for the update.

That place used to be fun (awhile ago). To bad.

Do you or anyone know of an existing site that is what Afternic should/could have been?

Directnic has DomainApex.com, maybe displaced Afternic-ers have moved there.
