    Whois debate. Need some help!

Ok, I am having issues with a domain name that a friend of mine owns. The domain name is a .com .

Which whois provider is the OFFICIAL whois for the domain with the accurate information?

    Verisign
    Internic
    Registrar

My friend renewed his domain. The whois at the registrar shows it does not expire until 2017. Now I check with the Registry for .com domains (Verisign) but it shows it expires in 2008. Now I would say Verisign would hold the Correct data. (btw, he renewed the domain about month or more ago) Internic.net also states the domain expires in 2008. The registrar is the only one that shows 2017 for the expiry date.

This is what I think. I think Verisign has the correct data, since they are the Registry. I know my friend renewed the domain, but I think Parava.net (the registrar) did not pay Verisign for the renewal. Am I correct?

    Verisign is official for
    Registrar name
    Registrars Whois server
    Registrars URL
    Name servers
    Status
    Updated Date
    Creation Date
    Expiration Date
    Registrar keeps the rest
    (this for .com and .net)

    Thank you for the verification!

I just got off the phone with Verisign and they also backed me up with this. Verisign is who holds the most accurate info for expiry date/creation date for .com .net domain names.

Is Parava.net the next RegisterFly..... soon to find out. It's been nearly two months since my friend renewed his domain and Parava has still NOT reported it to Verisign (by paying the renewal fees), which would lead to the domain expiring in 14 days if I wasn't watching the domain for him....

    Thanks Justin.

I was hoping to see a report in your sig on Parava.net/10-domains.com .

I have informed my friend to contact ICANN, since it's been two months since he renewed his domain and Parava has not reported it to Verisign. Secondly, I told him to Transfer the domain out to a more known registrar like GoDaddy, Netsol etc.

Looks like you were right Jamie, and that was certainly good advice you gave your friend to pull out of Parava.

Have you noticed the number of terminated registrars lately. You can't trust anybody to take care of your domains, what a shame.
