How can something like 9u3.com be worth anything other than the domain registration fee?
Three letter dotcoms are valuable and some others with numbers.
Where have you seen a name like 9u3.com go for $100+?
If you are new to domains and looking to buy, sell and learn about domains then you have come to the right place. DNForum is the largest domain name community on the internet and continues to grow every day. There are over 105,000 domainers on DNForum doing everything from buying domains, selling domains, learning about domains and discussing domains. Take a minute and Register.
Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I don't mean something cool like if it were a three letter word, such as wow.com or cop.com, those would be cool. Or something that would be attractive for novelty value like abc.com or xyz.com. Or, a well known company's initials, like cbs.com or nbc.com. I see the intrinsic value in stuff like that.
However, I wonder why random letter/number combinations are selling for $100+ here. If I'm counting right, there are over forty-six thousand random combinations. How can something like 9u3.com be worth anything other than the domain registration fee?

Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.
The main advantages are
1) That they are easy to type. So if one is using a small web enabled wireless device such as a cellphone, PDA etc where typing is slow a short domain is a huge advantage. The TLD .com is usually pre-programmed in such devices.
2) They are in very short supply. Well under 50,000 total 3 letter / number / dash combinations.
Right now we are in a bear market, but just wait.
