Why get non .com domains? Aren't .info, etc mainly traded between domainers?

It seems to me that a lot of domain sales are mainly between domainers,
especially for the non .com domains.

How often do you get a good sale of a non .com domain? Maybe once
in awhile but its more chance.

What percentage of domain sales are just between domainers,
for each TLD? Does anyone know? I bet dnjournal for example
could assess this for their top 100 without too much trouble.

Depends on which TLD you're talking about.

Plenty of places want a .org because they're an NGO or an NFPcorp.
Plenty of .info sales happen for people that are interested in running genuine informational sites. You know, wones that aren't trying to sell you something.
.tv does nicely in Hollywood too.
    .net does well enough too.

Frankly, I see .asia as something that WILL be hug, just not within an English speaking world. The chinese will take up on it, I reckon, and make .asia the de facto Chinese internet, like .com is the de facto North American internet.
