LOL ..that's funny dotcomster. Has it been like that for a while?
>Has it been like that for a while?
An old trick.
It's just your WHOIS client providing a wildcard response. Nothing sinister.
I had a whole whack of funny ones up for microsoft.com, but I'd registered name servers IP's in 192.168/24 when doing it, and they all got deleted when Verisign cleaned up the NS records in the CNO zone files. :^(
When I get some time, I'll put them back up.
I would like to better understand what happens
Is it really whois client? I tried telnet to verisign whois and got exactly the same. verisign whois should inform me about the registrar and their whois server address. But instead they report this. I did not use any whois client to get this:
> telnet whois.verisign-grs.com whois
Trying 198.41.3.54...
Connected to whois.verisign-grs.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
