Country: | You now have to wait 7 days to bump a thread on DNForum... Just noticed this - you can only reply to your own thread if 168 hours passes or if someone else replies, whichever comes first.
Eliminating crappy domains from being bumped too often, when the good names always stay on top?
Now I'll never be able to sell my awful names :(
I guess it's good for DNForum in the longrun though.. |

7 days seems long but less bumps will make for cleaner threads. And if everyone isn't bumping, then your own post won't disappear as fast too. |

Country: | We can change the timeframe but this was always a rule now its built into the programming.
If somebody replies to your thread with a question pertaining to the sale, you can respond, it will allow you to post if there was a reply.
The only reason I could see changing the timeframe to less than a week is if it's a price reduction within that first week. Looking at the habit of sellers, we typically don't see many price reductions in the first week, only a very small percentage of sales threads actually have this happen.
For now, price reductions within the first week can be made by editing the initial post. |

Country: | Frivilous bumping should be banned, yes.
But, if I post domains for sale, I may post them for a day or two, but then do a price reduction.
If 24 hours is too short, how about 48 or 72 hours siince 7 days is a bit obsessive?

However, this excerpt from rule #12 still applies: http://www.dnforum.com/rules.php#12 Quote: |
You must have a minimum price reduction of 10% to post a price reduction as a bump. Otherwise, edit the original post and do not bump!

Country: | Hum.. a week seems a bit excessive, but perhaps it's needed. But for example in "external auctions" I prefer to make a post shortly after an auction starts, and then update it when it's closer to the end. Since Sedo auctions typically run for 7 days, this won't be possible.

Country: | 48 hours makes more sense. I usually bump few day old threads to reduce price or post domains that are sold.

TheVirtual - I saw this when I wanted to bump a thread :o | that is part of the reasoning for change
also, when you offer names for sale based on that pattern of "reduced price bumping" members become aware and will just wait you out.
in that scenerio, you should just put a price and stick to it.
imo...
