Just few weeks ago here in Italy we had the case of Eluana Englaro (I don't know if american magazines talked about this but I think yes).
Her dad after many years of vegetative state pull the plug.
For me a vegetative state is not a life.
Life need dignity and live dependent on a machine don't have dignity.
But it's hard let to die a person we love...I had my uncle in that condition and I do miss him now he's gone.

I concur with the replies. Keeping the girlfriend tied up in the basement is a little harsh though. When are you going to let her out? ^_^
