I know that those figures are for the US, but they are just as relevant here in the UK - that's how far things have gone in 100 years; what the **** will they be like in another 20?

Why do we stand for such incompetance/corruption? I mean, really - can someone please explain that side of human nature

Not sure about the 'Mom stayed home to raise the kids' bit, as if it's bad when she doesn't. All that's happened nowadays is that she manages to raise the kids and work outside the home to help pay those taxes.

I suspect you both think I've missed the point, lol, which is that it's necessary nowadays for a woman to work to help pay those taxes.

All I'm saying is that it's not a bad thing to work outside the home if a woman wants to, even if there were no taxes to be paid and things were the way they were a hundred years ago.

That is the worst case scenario for a complete polar reversal. The truth is that no one knows what is going to happen on that day (by the way - it is December 21, 2012, the winter solstice). We do know for a fact that the Earth will cross the galactic "equator".

The scenarios for the "shift" range from minor (electrical interference all around the world, compasses are messed up since north is no longer a true north), to a complete reversal where north becomes south and south becomes north which would wreak havoc around the world. It's also quite possible that nothing significant will happen that day.

The point is that most families nowadays can not support themselves with only one working parent. More woman are forced to leave the kids with daycare/babysitter to work a job instead of the traditional role of housewife.
