48-hour delay on meaningful thread updates?

I'm having a two-day sale, and just cut prices for the second day. But I wasn't allowed to make a post explaining that change, as it had been less than 48 hours since I first posted the sale. (By the time 48 hours have passed, the sale will be over.)

Since there's already a no-meaningless-bump policy, I don't understand why there must be 48 hours between meaningful bumps! (Why not just 24?)
