Just had this error - it lasted about 10 minutes. Just letting you know in case something's wrong...

Warning: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /var/www/html/dnforum/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

The server had been taken down about 15 minutes ago and I would assume that's when you got that error message. All should be fine now. Thanks for the heads up.
